My son is leaving for BC on June 18th. Anyone else have a child leaving then??

Hi! My son called about his arrival last night at 11:15pm PST. He will be going to Nuke School also. He signed up last summer and then changed his career choice right before the Nukes were to leave. So, he's been hanging around waiting also. So much anticipation and excitement. So, now we wait for his letter, unless his recruiter can give me his address...?

Yesterday was difficult and I was weepy... but, today feeling better because I know he's made it and working toward his new life.

My son left June 15th. I am surprised at all the different start dates. The first two days were rough for me. I found the short phone call did not help. It didn't sound like what he would say. I thought he was reading what he said to me.

My son is leaving 6/18. We are in FL. Each time I think about it, I feel so incredibly heartbroken and, simultaneously, full of pride. This has been his dream since elementary school...so, I am happy that it coming to fruition for him. He's my oldest and the first to leave the nest.

Those are my feelings exactly.  And he is my first to leave the nest as well.  The house feels so empty without him here.

Got my last call this morning at 1:00 a.m..  Wow, she sounded so tired.  I am waiting on "the box"

I got my call at 9:28 last night. Funny how we all know exactly when we got the call.

Mine left 6/18 as well.  Heartbroken and scared for him.  :(

I am eagerly awaiting my sons first call, but not too soon! No news is good news! I am positive our kids are safe and in very good hands. Pretty soon we will receive our boxes and letters! Before we know it PIR!!!!!
I dropped mine off last night and I got a call about 7pm telling me he has arrived. I'm sacred for him too! The tears keep coming! Stay strong mama!
((Hugs)) to you Kerrie. He will do great!

Thank you.  It truely is the hardest thing this family has had to endure.  I'm dieing for him.  He was in DEP for almost a whole year and just graduated.  He was excited about the whole thing until about a month ago.  He's just such a mama's boy and very sensitive (I regret now babying him so much).  He's also very small.  I keep thinking I'm going to get the "your son can't handle it" phone call.  I pray he has the strength to get through it.   If he does, he will be an Intelligence Specialist.  I know he can handle A-School if he can just get through boot camp.  I wish they didn't have to be so detatched from their loved ones.  It doesn't feel right.  Anyhow, I've spent hours reading through this forum and it usually makes me feel better.  Thank you navymoms!!

This site has been so helpful. Makes me feel normal (kinda). It sounds as tho your son has a bright future with the Navy!
