my daughter is leaving this day too!  it seems to be arriving very quickly now!

16 days and counting down.

Anyone's Future Sailor leaving from Nashville?

Laurin's recruiter says we need to be there by 8:30 because that is the first group to swear in.

My son left on the 18th, we live in Reno. He is going to STG in San Diego. They may be in A school together!

Hi,
My son just go delayed to June 26 from June 18 due to illness. We live in Reno

Welcome to the group.

My daughter is leaving out of Nashville.

The loss of innocence and knowing the BC staff is paid to yell at them just haunts me.

I know she will be fine, but.......uhhh it's kinda like a punch in the stomach when I think about it.

Ugg. I have been having the same thoughts and feelings about my son. I was thinking all weekend about the sweet young man my son is and how he always goes out of his way to help anyone in need.  Soft spoken. The way he loves being outdoors hunting, fishing, hanging out with his friends. Easy going and never a bad word against anyone. I know he volunteered because he felt a sense of duty, but it still doesn't make the sadness I feel for the loss of innocence, as you said in your posts, seem any better.  sigh.  Must be a "Mom" thing.

My son, too.

My son is scheduled to leave on June 27th so it sounds like he will most likely be in this same group... if he leaves.  It is currently up in the air due to a mild foot problem.  Decision to be made Monday or Tuesday probably.  Selfishly would love to see him delayed but he is mentally ready so praying that his foot clears up in time!

Well I have not posted since my daughter Joined the Navy in February. I can't believe I have 3days before she leaves for Boot Camp. This has gone so fast. We had her Grad/Going away party yesterday, and there were a lot of tears from everyone. I know this is the best thing for her and I am so excited what the future holds for her, but I am going to miss her so much. I hope I can get through this because I have moments where all I do is cry. They say it gets easier, but I can't imagine it ever getting easier.

My son leaves tomorrow for MEPS in Boise, then on to bootcamp on the 26th. We've been busy putting together his thin wallet, and packing clothes for PIR liberty and for A school (San Antonio). It's just me as his father is far away at a conference. But my sister and a good friend were both here this morning so I don't feel alone. My son and I agreed to have our emotional goodbye chat this morning. I've promised him no more tears and so far I'm holding out.

In a way this will be easier than when he was living in the dorms at college as then not only did I not see him but I really never knew where he was and what he was doing (including when he was suppose to be in class). For the next 8 weeks I will know exactly where he is, and in a general way, what he is doing. The big difference of course is that I cannot text him. And he has been living at home for the last ten months and I have gotten used to that.

Hope he will meet up with others in his group who are planning on corpsman A school.

-Marty in Reno

Sometime between now and the end of BC, join HM (Hospital Corpsman) A School in San Antonio and check out Basic Medical Technician Corpsman Program Facebook Page. The Rating Information Card for HM can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/hm.pdf. The card indicates 19 weeks, but "A" School is 14 weeks after classing up.
