My daughter Rayne is leaving on June 18th 2013. I'm nervous and excited for her. I really have enjoyed this site so much since I joined. There is so much information and I tell you it takes a load off my mind knowing what my daughter will be up against.  Well I'm off to read some more information.

If anyone else's child is leaving on the 18th I would love to hear from you.

My son leaves on the 18th as well. We also live in Reno. I bet they have met at DEPS meetings!

Hi Kelly,

Let's keep in touch. Yes, I'm sure they know each other. Is it your impression that they will all leave by van Monday?
-Marty

Hi Marty: I am dropping my son off early Monday. Then they are off to Boise then to bootcamp. Lets definitely keep in touch. It will be nice having someone going through the same thing. How old is your son?
Kelly

Hi Kelly,
My son is 20. He found out today that indeed he is to report on Monday. This fits with what I've read on this site about how they get to bootcamp.

Hello everyone,
We had anxious week. Our recruit became very ill and need to be on antibiotics that needed to be continued to this Thrusday, two days after his departure date. His chief told him he could not be on medications at least three days before his arrival at MEPS and, that is he did not meet the departure date his place in A school was no longer guaranteed. Thankfully a couple of days later our recruiter managed to both delay his date and secure a new spot. So he now leaves on the 25th. Plenty of time to arrive healthy. Anyway he won't be with the June 18 group.

Hi Marty,

I'm from Reno also. My son just swore into DEP two weeks ago. He is going to be a Senior in high school this year, so his ship date for BC isn't til 7/1/2014.

I hope your son is healthy now and that he was able to ship out today. How are you doing? Stay strong and think about how even more amazing your son will be when he graduates from BC! I'll be keeping your son and family in my thoughts and prayers.

BTW there is a Nevada Moms group on N4M, so do a search and come join us. We Nevada Moms gotta stick together.

The group is nevada moms.

My daughter Lindsey got her long hair cut today and got really upset. It is such a change for her since she had it long since she was two. Tuesday to MEPS and hotel and then Wednesday is when she leaves. I can't believe it is here.

My son Jeff is leaving today. We got to have dinner with him last night and then brought him back to the hotel. Not sure what time he leaves, just that he had to go to MEPS this morning and the flight would be sometime today out of SeaTac Airport. I feeling lost now. I was all good with this, but now I'm feeling like it was a mistake to gently push him in the direction of the military. Although, that's just my heart and my selfishness. I know in my head it's a very good thing and truly I'm not worried about him. He'll do great. I just need to get past this sadness and look forward to calls and seeing him in August.

Thanks for the tip sierra scrapper and lemon elephant. Will check out Nevada moms.

My son left june 17th to the motel and then to MEPS on june 18th and then got on the plane. He arrived in Chicago at around 8 pm(my time eastern)but they didn't come get him til 10pm but he had a buddy he hung out with. They gave each one a check for like $25 and they used one in Atlanta and got 2 meals and then in Chicago used the other one and got 2 meals. Cause if you only get one meal you will not get no change back. I miss my recruit so very much. The first call was at 2:10am my time. It was only for like 30 seconds. Then he called me this past Saturday for 20 minutes. He is doing good . Just tired and missing home. I try to be strong for him when we talk but it got emotional at the of the conversation. He is my only son and he is a mamas boy. I love my son very much. I pray for him everyday and am leaving it in Gods hands.
