My son left for GL yesterday, but due to flight delays into Chicago, I didn't get my call that he was at the RTC safely until 2:30am this morning.  So I don't know if he's considered with a start date of 6/26 or 6/27 now - but he's there!

P-1 for all who arrived yesterday and last night was today, 06/27/2013. The day that will be the most important will be the first day of training after P-days are over and you won't know that until you can write and ask him to date a letter with the DOT and calendar date. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) for more on that and I invite you to join that group while you are there and to check out the other Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) as well.

Thank you lemonelephant.  All of your info and wisdom is so very appreciated!  As well as that of the other veteran moms.  You're support is priceless!

Quick question, there seems to be some confusion on info going around from some of the moms I am in close contact with.  I got my "I'm here" call at 7:50 pm on Wednesday, 6/26, so if all goes well I'm calculating PIR on 8/23 (counting today as first Friday),   I know that's not set in stone, but just trying to get in my mind an approximate date.  Another of my friends son arrived yesterday 6/27 at 1:00 pm and their recruiter and MEPS told them to expect their PIR on 9/6.

I really appreciate your help.

By counting 9 Fridays, the most likely PIR date is 08/23/2013, but since he arrived on a Tuesday, it is possible that he could have PIR on 08/16/2013 if he was one of the last to fill a division and is in a Push Division. It could also be 08/30/2013, but that is rare for one arriving at the beginning of the week as your SR did. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC for more on that. You will know when you recveive the form letter, which arrives an average of 10 days after arrival.

cos333333, you are very welcome.

Some Recruiters are making estimates based on 10 weeks, but the RTC has not extended BC and the average time at the RTC is still 8 1/2 weeks (the RTC says 7 to 10 weeks in their info). Yes, you are correct and the most likely PIR date is 08/23/2013. It could also be 08/30/2013 if storms caused additional recruits to be shipped to the RTC this week, but 09/06/2013 should not happen for any arriving this week unless someone gets ASMO'd for some reason. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC for more on that.

Got my call at 7:50 last night.  Let the adventure begin...... trying to stay positive but it sure is hard!

Cos333333 I know exactly how you feel. When I woke up this morning and walked by her room and not seeing her in bed made this moms heart break. I hope the next 8 weeks go by fast.

My son has a chair in the living room. Yes its his chair, I have wanted to get rid of the thing for years. H loves and refused to let me. He uses to just be online and do his thing, LOL. I am so glad and sad it is still here.

Hi all-- My son shipped on the 26th from Denver.  I didn't know that my last real day with him was going to be Monday or I'd have made different plans.  I found this group when I was falling apart on Tuesday evening.  I'm so thankful that I did.  I was able to take a different wallet, bandaids, moleskin with us to MEPS.  I didn't know we could be there for that and we got to spend a bit of time with him at the USO while he was waiting the 8+ hours for his flight thanks to the weather in Chicago.  We got a phone call that he had landed from him around 12:30am MTN and had a short visit then the scripted call at 1:30am MTN.  We have heard that they don't allow them to sleep for the first 3 days?  Does anyone know if there is any truth to that?  When he finishes bootcamp he will be a SeaBee and go to Mississippi for A school.  I look forward to getting to know you all.

I heard the thing about sleep as well. That was from him, he had talked to someone recently finishing boot camp. So, not sure, but.... Mine is going to be Information Techonology Specialist and is going to his Aschool in Pensecola Fl. Good luck Beloved.

AprilS, Since your SR will go to "A" School for Information System Technician (IT) in Pensacola, FL at the Center for Information Dominance (CID) Corry Station, join, or at least check out, Corry Station IT Moms, IT A Schoolers, INFORMATION SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN - IT, ITOF, IT-ATF, ITS, Sailors at Corry Station holding or in school, and/or Sailors In Pensacola, FL For A School....Corry Station too!!.  The Rating Information Card for IT can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/it.pdf.

Thanks so much lemonelephant will do. Ok the rating card I have they gave him a copy with his first paper work and he left that here. I am going to check out the rest right now.

Thanks again :)
