I have a son leaving on July 31st and One on August 15th. My son leaving in August will be sworn in at Busch Stadium before a Cardinal game. Was wondering if anyone else on here has a son/daughter doing the same thing. I will be taking him to ST. Louis on the 14th and we got a room in the Sheraton, the same place the recruits will be staying. We are very excited for him, what a great experience!! But I am anxious about them leaving and I am going to miss them horribly.

Hi cathymg.  My son is also being sworn in at Busch Stadium.  He is scheduled to leave Joplin MO August 13th.. Now i'm assuming he will go to KC MO to MEPS and then head to St Louis for all the festivites.  We have about 14 family members going with us to watch everything. I'm excited, but nervous as well.  I'm so proud of my son, but i'm not ready for him to leave. I will be a basket case for sure. LOL  How did you find out the recruits will be staing at the Sheraton? My son has been in DEPS since November 16th. He turns 18 next sunday the 7th.  I was born and raised in the same town we live in now, i haven't left, my husband grew up in the air force, his dad retired from there so he is used to all this military life. Me on the other hand... this is going to be a learning experience.  I have so many emotions going through my head LOL But i know deep down it is a very good thing for him and he's excited so that makes it a little easier on me, but this mamma isn't ready yet.. LOL   Do you have a facebook account, maybe we can keep in touch?? I think we will all need all of our support to get through our babies leaving us.  I do have 2 other kids at home.. a 15 yr old and a 9 year old, but watching your first born become an adult and leave the nest is hard lol

I called the boys recruiter, He gave me his # and told me to call any time I had a question, he probably regrets that now. He told me that They would stay at the Sheraton on Wednesday night, I will take him to the Navy office to do his paper work and then I will go ahead and take him to St. Louis, I also called the Sheraton and they told me how things worked on their end. They said once the boys get there they are only allowed to visit with family in the lobby, I guess at that point they already belong to the Navy. WE have about 35-40 people going to the game, I ordered 32 tickets the other day and my husbands company has given us some tickets. But my 32 tickets are the $5 ones near where the boys will be sitting. When my son leaves in August that will be my last kid to leave the house, my daughter is 23 and his twin brother is to leave July 31st for the Navy. It going to be very difficult for me, but like you I am very proud of them. Where are your seats at the game, we have seats in section 428 & 429. Yes lets do keep in touch and I do have facebook.

We are in section 428 as well. Some in row 5 and 6. Where are you from? We live in the very southeast corner of Kansas. I just asked my son how its all going to work with him and his recruiter doesn't know yet. He said there are 3 including him shipping out the 13th from the office in Joplin that are going to the.cardinals induction. I would like to stay in the Sheraton but with everyone we have going they can't afford those rooms so we will be staying about 8 miles away. What time does the Honorary stuff start at the memorial museum? 9 right? Do you know if we will get anything else in the mail explaining e erything with directions (

I live in central IL. I am not sure if we will get anything else, did you RSVP for the family picnic? I have called several times but have never got anyone to answer. The Sailors will have a honorary enlistment downtown St.Louis at 9:30 on the steps of the soldiers memorial. We have a lot of people going to but I will am not worrying about where they stay, they can take care of that their selves. Me and my husband, daughter and parents will be staying at the Sheraton. We have 24 seat in section 428 row 8, 5 seats in row 5 and then 3 seats in section 429 row 10. We have seats 7-11 in row 5 what number are your seats?

In row 6 we have 1-14 and in row 5 we have 4 seats like 3-6 I think.

Well then someone in your group will be sitting right next to someone in group then. I am very excited for him and proud, but it will be a very emotional day. Did you RSVP for the picnic??

Yes I did RSVP for the picnic.. but it take me FOREVER to get someone to answer the phone. About a week and letting it ring 20 times. Lol

I private messaged you my facebook info. and I thought I told you that on here but don't see in, must of private messaged you that too. any that is probably in your inbox just didn't want anyone seeing it.

My son is also part of Cardinal Company. I don't get to take him to St. Louis, my son leaves with his recruiter on the 12th, then I will go down on the 14th to attend all the activities on the 15th. I am already missing him and he's not even gone yet!

Good it is nice to meet someone else is a parents of someone in the Cardinal company. I am going to miss my boys like crazy, but I am pretty excited about the game and them being sworn in there. Very exciting for all of them. Where are your seats?? They haven't said that Gregory needs to leave any earlier but wondering if that will change. I guess we will see. So I take it you are going to the picnic too, hopefully we will get to talk at least for a moment and then we can keep in contact while our kids are in BC.

Yes, we are going to the picnic and the game. There is a total of 10 of us between my family and his father's family. Don't have my tickets with me so not sure where my seats are, but will definately find out and let you know. I look forward to hopefully meeting you and keeping in touch. Michael is my first born, so first to leave, I think that's why I'm having a hard time with it. I too am very excited about the game. We live in Oak Grove, MO, which is about 30 miles east of KC, so that may be why my son is leaving so early. Thank you for the reply. Rena
