Oh my son is going to Pensecola for A-School. I just joined that board. He is Aviation Structural Mechanic.
Thank you Cheryl for the hug! They are all needed. I am so glad to meet someone who has a child leaving the same day. We will have to stay connected for sure. I am going to join the July board next. My son's job is Aviation Structural Mechanic (safety). His A-school is in Pensecola. Can you visit them at A-School? If so, I will be there! I already live in Florida and know the directions to Pensecola. Maybe we can drive up for the holidays as well.
This site is amazing! The level of support is wonderful. Up until yesterday, I felt all alone. My husband is a great man but he is trying to be strong and not talk about it much. I know he knows I am so broken over this. I will be so happy to just get to the PIR date! At least then, the lines of commincation are opened back up.
I know we will all break down when we are leaving MEPS next Tuesday. But I think I will get through it with the support on this board. Keep in touch. We will count down together! Navy Mom hugs to you as well.
I see that your future Sailor will go to “A” School for Cryptologic Technician Networks (CTN) since you have joined CTN; you may also want to join, or at least check out, cryptology at pensacola moms, Cryptology ~ CTI ~ CTM ~ CTN ~ CTR ~ CTT ~, Sailors at Corry Station holding or in school, and Sailors In Pensacola, FL For A School....Corry Station too!!. The Rating Information Card for CTN can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/ctn.pdf. Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend once you get the form letter. Since CTN is one of the Spook ratings, the information within the Page, OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes To Your Profile), will be important for you.
Here is the info for Information System Technician (IT); join, or at least check out, Corry Station IT Moms. IT A Schoolers, INFORMATION SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN - IT, ITOF, IT-ATF, ITS, Sailors at Corry Station holding or in school and Sailors In Pensacola, FL For A School....Corry Station too!!. The Rating Information Card for IT can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/it.pdf. Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend. IT is also one of the Spook ratings, so the information within the Page, OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes To Your Profile), will be important for you.
Yes, you will be able to visit him there. It is usually best to wait a few weeks. He will tell you the best time for a visit once he is there and has been through INDOC.
Michelle....I know EXACTLY how you are feeling. So many conflicting emotions. I am so excited for him and so proud of him and can't wait for this amazing journey to begin but at the same time I am so sad and nervous for him to leave. No one else really gets it except other moms. I joined the Dep leaving in July board also. I am so glad to connect with someone else. My son's best friend has joined as well and will start boot camp two weeks after so I have been talking to his mom but it will be nice to have someone that is in the same place in this process. We live in NM but I work for an airline so we can fly for free and plan several trips to Pensacola to visit.
We had the last meeting with the recruiters tonight and I already knew most of the information thanks to N4M. Hang in there and enjoy this last week.
