my son left for gl on the July 9th...I received his box on Friday the 12th...now anxiously waiting for his letter.

Hmmm...I wonder if our sons are in the same group? Hoping I get the box today....It's not even been a week he has been gone but I feel like it has been months! His little sister is still so upset...she has been with Grandma since he left (cause I traveled all week for work) so, she is worried about coming home and not having him hear. I keep telling her I understand, it is weird to not have him with us. But, i'm counting down Friday's....i'm guessing PIR should possibly be around 6 Sept - need that letter! lol  Thanks for letting me know you got the box! I'll be stalking the FedEx man today!

Hello!  I am Philip's mom and he arrived at GL on July 8.  The box came this past Friday.  I am looking for mom's who have kids going into the IS program at Dams Neck.

I see you have joined Moms of IS (Intelligence Specialist) sailors. The Rating Information Card for IS can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/is.pdf. Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend. Since IS is one of the Spook ratings, the information within the Page, OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes To Your Profile), will be important for you and there are some changes at the bottom that you need to make..

My son also left on 7/9. I haven't received his box as of yet but I sure have been looking for it everyday.

My son also got to GL on 7/9. I got his box on Friday and now I too am anxiously awaiting the letter. It is so hard not to be able to talk to him. I miss him so much already, I'm hoping these 8 weeks go by fast. I'm looking forward to spending some time with him before he leaves for A school in Pensacola.

What is his rating (job/specialty) going to be? There are groups for most ratings and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend.

Also, be sure to check the comments on your My Page.

I got the Box!!! Bet the FedEx man thought I was looney...I burst into tears as soon as I opened the door and saw the writing on the box! I got a scribbled love ya on a scrap paper...was so good to get something! His clothes were thrown in and all jumbled so i'm sure it was a crazy time. Now i'm looking for the letter...I want his address!! Been writing every day.

My son left July 9 and I just received his box fed ex about an hour ago.

My son left 7/8 from Harrisburg, PA. I got his box on Thurs and his letter arrived today. His graduation is when I expected by counting out 9 weeks...9/6/13 is when we get to see him...although I don't want to wish our summer away, I am very excited for that day.

The group, PIR 09/06/2013 TG 43 (clickable link), will be up later today. Keep checking and join when it is created.

So glad for you! Can not wait for letter. Thinking our date will be the same. Sept.6
