Does anyone know about the navy lodge or the navy gateway inns/suites on base? I am a DOD civilian and my husband is retired navy. Just wondering if we can make reservation at one of those locations.

The Navy Lodges does not have its own shuttle, but they will give you the numbers of those in the area or you can contact Sarge.  Sarge has a taxi service and he is a wealth of information and has a Meet and Greet at the Sundance Saloon in Waukegan the night before PIR. His cell number is 847-212-0246. His M&G and services have been getting great reviews. Find Sarge on N4M as OldSarge.

For reservations at the Navy Lodge, go to https://www.navy-lodge.com/lodge_page.html?p_lodge_number=05 or call (847)689-1485. There is more within Saving Money PIR Weekend.

I'm going through the background check with Gateway Inn right now, but have a rez at Navy Lodge just in case they don't get it done in time for my son's PIR on Aug 16th. His girlfriend is coming with me and I've read that only parents or spouses can stay there. Is that true? Also, which is the better place to stay? I wanted him to come visit us on Thursday if he's able and understand he can't at Navy Lodge, but possibly can at Gateway. Of course, I just want to see him as much as possible.

Oh wow, I didn't know they could stay with you possibly...My hubby served in the Army years ago (not retired) i'm currious if we can stay at Gateway as well???? I assume Gateway is Navy related just like Navy Lodge?  Thanks

QC Mom, No, the Sailors CANNOT stay overnight. Your SR can be your sponsor, so you cn stay there. See more wthin Saving Money PIR Weekend and PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend.

JeffsMom, No, you all will be able to stay at the Gateway Inn and Suites. Your SR is the sponsor and you just have to give them the names of everyone who is staying for the backbround checks.

Your new Sailor CANNOT stay overnight any night and you will not see him prior to PIR.

Sailors who will be staying at GL for "A" School must have a deviation chit to visit Gateway Inn and Suites since it is on the main part of the base and is off-limits to students at the TSC (they have sometimes let them visit there over PIR weekend without the deviation chit, but they must have it any other time).

Ok. I understood he wouldn't stay the night, just heard he could visit. I may not stay there if there's no chance of him visiting before PIR. Thank you for the info!

The Navy Gateway Inn and Suites is on the main part of the base across the street from the RTC. You will not see your Sailor prior to PIR regardless of where you stay.

Your Sailor can visit you at the Navy Lodge.

beverly, check the info on the Navy Lodge in Saving Money PIR Weekend and see if there is anything I should add. Thanks

I called them and made reservations over the phone. When I tried to do it online, the online site didn't show availability but when i called they got me in!
