So in reading this I'm gathering I have to wait for my sons letter to arrive to get his PIR date? Is this correct? It's been a week today since he left and I really miss him! Not talking for a week is very hard for me but I'm excited for all he's learning! Are there any other moms that have kids that left the same day?

My son left aug 7th 2013
I know how you feel
I allow myself to feel my feelings
And then I do things to take action
I baught 3 cards to send as soon as I get address
I left note on door for fed ex to leave the box with out signature !
I calculated the grad date to be 9 weeks from shipping date, always on a Friday .
I baught a ticket to Chicago on southwest that week
Because there is no fee to change flights
So if things change I can do that
I'll rent a cheap economy car

I guess all the planning helps

I Also light a candle for him every night and say special prayers for him
Important to do self care !!
You're a good mom
Thank you Sofora for the info and support I appreciate it. I got a fed ex tag on Friday and I'm assuming it's the box so hoping it comes today!! I am trying to get a Blue Star Flag to hang in my window a well as write him. I like the candle idea I think I will start that today. I wasn't sure about buying a plane ticket as I thought there were discounted flights and hotel rooms through MWR? Does any one have the answer to that?

Thanks again and I know it will get easier as soon as I get a letter lol!!
Till then I'm staying busy with my other 2 boys who r trying to take over Jeremy's room while he's gone lol!!!!
Thank you

What is MWR?
Not sure what it stands for I forget sorry but I found it on the Bootcamp.navy.mil site and read that it helps with travel arrangements at a discounted rate? Does anyone know how this all works.
Sofora check out that site if u haven't yet. It's pretty informative!

Here's a direct link to information regarding travel arrangements thru MWR (Morale, Welfare & Recreation).

I can't speak as to how it works or how well it works, so you'll just need to talk with them about your needs.

My SR son also left for BC on Aug 5.  I received his box last Thursday and are also waiting (rather impatiently) on his form letter to be sure of his PIR date. This has been a very long week and I miss him terribly!

No I have no clue just yet?? Do u know what one ur daughter is in? Where did she leave from? My son left out of San Diego. I'm glad I'm not the only one having a hard time with this!! I got his box today and was happy n sad all at the same time lol!! I hope the letter comes soon! Hang in there we are all in this together!

She has not had Mail Call yet. Friday is about the earliest that she can have Mail Call and that is saying that her division formed on the day she arrived, which may or may not be the case. It is best to wait on the form letter before mailing any more letters. See Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit.
