These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Does anyone on here know how long A school for OS at GL will be? My son did not really have that answer when he left. He knew where he was going to school but was not fully sure how long when i asked last month. I probably should have asked him again before he left since he may have learned more information by then. Initially he thought it was going to be about 6 months long. Yikes.

Hey ladies!!! I hope all you are doing good. Another day closer to see our recruits.. Hopefully they have there acts together and can get there mail soon or can send us a letter. Still can't believe they are fighting with another. I was hoping that was done with by now. Does anybody know when they usually start pulling together usually?

McEastcoastMom:  The length of A School depends on his "job."  Those who are "undesignated" only have a month....others have much longer A School.  He probably knows now.

Melissa:  Some divisions take longer than others to get it together, but eventually, they all get there!

Just got a letter today. Was not a good one and I knew that it wasn't going to be from the phone call I got from her Saturday. my daughter wrote they are getting itd all the time kuz they are not working together. She said the most sleep she has gotten is 5 hrs which makes everything worse. My daughter said her blisters are so bad that they are eating away now and that her knee hurts her after she stands on it for 15 minutes. Pain meds and therapy not doing any good. My daughter has a high pain tolerance also. I'm thinking she needs to just come home and the navy isn't the life for her. She even wrote it in her letter that she thinks she made the wrong decision. Wants nothing more than to come home and depression is setting in really bad. Does anybody know if she can come home if she wants to?

Melissa, This is the time of training that many of the recruits want to come home, question their decision etc. They are being "beat down" to be built back up stronger and more confident than before. It is not unusual to hear these things from your SR at this point.

Keep up the encouragement, remind her she is strong and can do this. You will be amazed how fast their attitude will change at this point, one minute wanting to quit and come home, an hour later thinking the Navy is a great place to be. :)

I'm sorry to hear about your daughter.  What div is she in? My daughter sounded pretty bad on sat too. Part of me wants to say the same as you but part knows she will probably start feeling better about it soon. xoxo

Finally, we are getting letters.  Niece said that the first week was hurry up and wait for everything, but is getting better.  The boots were killers for first 3 days but blisters are starting to heal.  She said the best part is seeing her name on her uniform, it just confirmed to her that she has made the right decision.  Loves the physical training, but said her division is having a hard time with "teamwork".  She was given the job of Starboard Watch, which is when they march she does the call outs.  Ha I have time seeing her doing this as she doesn't like to draw attention to herself.  She did say that they still are not receiving mail.  That is just crazy!  I have mailed her 3 letters already. Her letter was dated August 25th.

I received letters from my daughter today.  There was joy and sadness at the same time.  I was glad that she is ok.  She said she is so homesick.  I really miss her so much.  We have never been way from each other this long.  I can't wait to see her on her PIR.

I'm in the same boat...literally...our daughters share the same ship and Div and i haven't received a letter yet...hoping soon though...prayer to your daughter and to mine that they over come this together some how!!...more like "we"as mothers do the same...glad you got to hear she was ok*patientlywaiting*
