QUIT LISTENING TO THE NEWS  it only adds to the imagination and what ifs...Been at this since 1984 haven't lost a son yet including the one that was on the ground in afghan.  Take a deep breath and let it out slowly. Our Navy is the best be it in the air on the water or even on land(rarely).

Thank you guys so much!!!
Yes thx so much!!!!! Mary S

Hi Cynthia, I also have a son stationed outside of Syria and I'm worried sick; I have all the confidence in the world that our Navy is well staffed and trained BUT as a Mom, we worry.  I pray all day for my son, his mates and all our military.  My son's ship is on a nine month deployment and has been gone since March; I can't even imagine how hard it is for him day in an day out; he speaks of no port visits and mail has been cut off for weeks on end.  My advice is to talk it out with friends as I do and pray and be strong.

Hi-i will pray for your son! Thx for the information!!!!!sending hugs your way

Hi Mary, thank you for the prayers - our loved ones need each and every one of them!  It's all we can do for now.  Was thankful to hear from my son that FINALLY his mail was delivered, six boxes were waiting from me - including his b/day box sent way before Augut 9th!  He was so thankful this morning and it started out my morning in the most wonderful way.  I think we are all on edge with what is happening now and waiting to see what the President has to say.  Let's all keep praying!  Thanks for keeping in touch, diana

My son is in DEP with a ship date of 07222014 and the whole Syria thing makes nervous.  They say that any action will last 90 days and involve no boots on the ground by I'm nervous anyway (my son will be a corpsman (who will volunteer to be a field medic if given the opportunity).
