Join the group, Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). The Page, Arrival and What Happens at the RTC will let you know what is happening, but you will want to check out the other pages as well.
Yes, we are in the same boat - pardon the pun LOL! It is certainly a painful grieving process around here mixed with pride and anticipation of what is to come. I am grateful for this group. Soon we will all be in another group for our kids' PIR date. My heart is heavy today but I am moving forward with lots of prayer.
My son is MAA, left for boot camp on 9/4.
Then our sons are now together:) I got the "phone call" at 2am. Hang in there!
I see that your SR will go to “A” School for Information System Technician (IT); join, or at least check out, Corry Station IT Moms. IT A Schoolers, INFORMATION SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN - IT, ITOF, IT-ATF, ITS, Sailors at Corry Station holding or in school and Sailors In Pensacola, FL For A School....Corry Station too!!. The Rating Information Card for IT can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/it.pdf. Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend. Since IT is one of the Spook ratings, the information within the Page, OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes To Your Profile), will be important for you.
JC's Mom, I'm a bit partial to the MA rating since my Sailor is an MA.
is there a link for MA , like some of the other ratings?
/ello... I am glad I found this website the day he went to MEPS. Wish it would have dawned on me to research this before. But due to my inability to sleep caused by sadness and worrying, I found this site. My son left to BC on 09/05/2013. We received the too too quick phone call around 11pm, but it was such a relief. Otherwise it would have been yet another sleepless night. My son will be 20 in November and has been away from home at college, but I was able to take the 30 minute drive and come to his aid when needed. So this whole process of waiting and not knowing, is a bit much. He is rated as a CTN and will got to Pensicola for A school. I am slightly disappointed to find out that he will be sent out there the day after PIR, when we were told he would have a 2 week leave. Oh well.
I am planning on driving from Fl to IL and making it an educational trip with my 10 year old daughter.... I do apologize if I'm rambling LOL
