My son leaves for Boot Camp Sept 24 from Dallas. Would love to touch base with other 24th moms no mater where you are from.

What area is your husband going into? My son also has over a year training for EOD (the only acronym I really know).

He will be a HMFM Hospital Corpsman Fleet Marine, He will have basic training, A school,C school, Field Training and probably some other trainings along the way. He is going in as a reservist and received a guaranteed C school in his contract, but to what he will get we shall wait and see.

The most difficult aspect is not having any control and knowing exactly how long he will be away, I guess it will be a great lesson in patience.

My son is leaving for BC on the 24th of Sept. and going to Great Lakes.  I really hope I can get some support from others who have a child entering soon.  I am so confused about this whole blogging/chatting and joining groups !  Please tell me I am not alone in having such anxiety about BC.  I don't like the thought of not being able to get in touch with my son or talk with him anytime I want.

I'm glad to have found all you other Mom's here.  Imagine, around the USA the 24th is going to be a stressful day for a lot of us Moms (& Dads).  I wonder from how many different states our new soldiers will be coming from !  I'm from Wisconsin   :)

I'm from Missouri.

I love the support I read around here. I try so hard not to think about what is quickly approaching, because when I do, I just get all emotional and worried. I don't want her to see me like that so it's not what she remembers when she is gone.

I still feel like there is so much to learn and understand. Today I learned about ship 5 and nearly had a heart attack.

Just really happy to have a supportive place with people who truly understand.

I broke down in tears this morning talking to my son.  Oh boy, it's going to be an emotional couple of weeks around this house.  I only have boys (triplets!) so no female hormones to understand.  I'm grateful for all of you that have reached out and supported and validated my anxiety level !  And btw nichole.....what about ship 5....and do I really want to know???

No. You really don't. I think I could have done without that, because most will never be on board ship 5. I just wish I hadn't read it. Just one more thing to worry about.

I had no idea going into all this how scary it would be and how emotional I'd be. I was aware of most of it, but I guess I never let it sink it that she would be gone for so long with no contact, etc. I almost don't want her to call to let me know she is safe because that alone is going to make me a mess. Hearing her but not being able to "talk" to her. Yeah so probably will let the hubby take that call.

I break down into tears on a fairly regular basis these days when any  mention of the navy comes up and don't get me wrong - I am completely and totally proud of her and I know she can do this. My uncle retired from the navy, so I know she'll do fine, but letting go is so much harder than I realized it would be.

Shesh,

I know how you feel Wait!!! You have Triplets?????? I have Triplets Boys too!!! My Sailor is the Middle of the Boys.... I also have a younger son too I am the Only girl in my house also So Good To meet you

12 more days! Its really starting to hit hard.  I wish I could slow down time!

My daughter leaves the 24th from St. Louis. It's moving so fast! I just want it to slow down.

My son is from Mississippi. I am doing good but my dreams are getting strange. I guess the anxiety is coming out in the dreams

It's funny you say that about your dreams tidefan.  After spending a fair amount of time reading posting last night, I had odd dreams also.  Weird.

I'm also not looking forward to the calls from BC.  I hear they get 15 - 30 secs.  What !?!  I have too many questions to ask and I'll never be able to get them out in that amount of time.  I need to hear his voice though.  I can usually tell how he's feeling by his tone.

I am very tearful and "cranky" these days also.  Of course I am so proud of my son, but as a parent it's scary.
