Has anyone's son/daughter had the opportunity to change their rating while at bootcamp? It's a long story, so won't bore you with details, but we've been told that while at bootcamp, the sailors are offered the PST testing for Special Forces. One recruiter says they still offer the PST at bootcamp, another recruiter says they do not do that anymore. Anyone have experience with this?

It does happen every now and then that a recruit is invited to train with the special ops division/s and has happened for at least one recruit recently. There must be an 800 division in the same TG. See 800 and 900 Divisions within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) for how that works.
I would not lay too much credit with anything the recruiters say, wait to hear from your recruit to know what is going on with him as recruiters do not keep up to date with what is going on at bootcamp nor the school commands.
Thank-you for your replies. I think we will just have to wait for bootcamp and see what happens, hopefully there will be an 800 division there at the same time. My son is top draft for Special Forces but cannot sign a contact until his foreign passport has been relinquished which is taking forever. He doesn't want to delay his ship out date which is why I asked if he could change ratings once he gets to bootcamp. He is so motivated for SF, I hope he gets the opportunity to do the PST.
It really depends when he gets there...if everything is corrected by the time he leaves he can try to do it before hand. very few get to change ratings while in bootcamp, so he can not count on it...if it is something he really wants, best to delay his ship date..
