While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 007 and 008
These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Oh my gosh that is so awesome, ours was a wrestler, football and baseball player in high school too, we told him if he could handle those workouts he would have no problem. It was the mental part that he was not sure about.

Yes. Tim played football too. He didn't have the attention span for baseball. I reminded him before he left for boot camp about the time he was trying out for the football team and he wanted to just stop, but he told me he kept thinking about me and that kept him going.

They have the building blocks to succeed, they just need to keep telling themselves that they can do this, they will feel so much better once completed...
I saw that you said they have a test today, praying they both do well!!

That's a tough phone call to have...but I agree with Angie, what you're hearing is part of the process. I also think that they need to vent to someone and there isn't anyone there that they are close enough to. Plus, they want to appear strong and not homesick (even though most of them are feeling that way). My son told my husband yesterday that he missed home and just being able to sit down and talk with us whenever he wanted. He didn't tell ME that...probably because he knows that I would just worry.
Angie, my son also told me that some of the guys in the division aren't trying their best, which makes him mad and frustrated. They need to pull together - but that will happen. It is also part of the process.

Thanks! I'm glad this is here for us. My son doesn't have his dad to talk to just me. His dad passed away last year. This is helpful for me in so many ways.

Yes, in his letters he was venting to both my husband and myself, we come from a very small town so he went K-12 with all of his teammates and was use to everyone covering each-other and pulling their weight.

Hi! My name is Cindy. I am new here. My son is on Ship 13 Div008 also. I am from NJ, but I live in Illinois, very close to Great Lakes! My son was really struggling with the same complaints as your recruits, not everybody pulling their weight, not moving fast enough, etc. The first phone call i received from him was very emotional, and the first two letters were depressing. I was a basket case, I would cry anytime someone would ask me how he was doing. One of my friends jokingly said, you're just worried he's going to come home! LOL! It's so hard to hear them so down. He called yesterday and I was very relieved. He said he is doing much better and is much happier. I remember the recruited told us that after week three things get better and better every week.

HI Cindy, welcome to the group!! I am right there with you. Although the call yesterday was not better per his girlfriend, as they lost part of their call time, so since he had spoke to us last weekend he called her first this time and then they ran out of time. So I don't know if it was just her emotions and not so much his that she was hearing?? Some of they SR's have worked so hard to be where they are.
