OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Follow this link for OPSEC Guidelines:

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Your Sailor should be able to get leave to come home when he completes A school, so you should be able to see him in less than a year!

Thank you so much for all the supporters and encouragers in this group!!  Any EOD people out there, send me a private message and friend request.  We can help each other during this next phase :)

I know I have sent him to and left him in scarier places than this. And knowing it would be a year before I saw him again.... I can't decide if this is harder if if is just never gets easier. I am grateful for this weekend. Everyone I have encountered has been lovey. I pray for protection for all our new sailors.

Well, that was a not so fun drive home from the Windy City today. Arrived safe and sound, but wind blown and wet.

My former SR is now a happy camper at the NNPTC.

Heads up Moms. If you are still in Great Lakes high risk of sever storms today. Hope you are having the best time with your SNs.
