Curious if anyone else on here arrived that day... I have heard that graduation may be around December, 13th. Not sure how the process goes, I know/ believe he will be going to A school in Pensacola...He is an IT guy. How much time do they have between PIR(think that's the term) and A school? I'm guessing he will be home for Christmas, but his Bday is 4 days later...will they stay home til the new year? So many questions, so clueless! To make matters worse, I'm a nurse in an ICU. Just try taking time off between Nov and Dec....fat chance! I'm gonna have to wheel and deal big time, but I need specific dates....tic-tock!

Hi blakesmom, my son arrived at boot camp on the 9th also. PIR will be either the 6th or the 13th of December. Contact your son's recruiter on Tuesday and he should be able to tell you for sure. My son is going to A school in California for Seabee construction mechanic. I too am a nurse. I am a high school nurse so it's a little easier to take the time off! I don't know about Christmas. I thought that most would leave for A school the day after PIR, but I could be wrong! It would be wonderful to have them home for Christmas!
Hi Blakesmom! My husband got to bootcamp on the 10th and we were told dec 6 or 13 more than likely. It will really depend on if your son is in a push division. My husband will also be going to Pensacola for a-school. It was my understanding that the only way they could take leave for Christmas was if they weren't already attending training and it had to be approved for command. Usually they don't have enough leave to take for that time. If they receive liberty during that time there is a travel restriction preventing them from going so many miles for base.
What is a "push" division?

I have no earthly idea...It doesn't help that i'm about as computer illiterate as they come....My son did all that for me, and without him, I can hardly navigate my way on this site!  Afraid i'm violating privacy rules by asking certain questions.  I'm so lost....Tonight was my first night back to work since he left, and I cried on the drive in.  I just never know when its gonna hit me, I'm fine one minute, then teary the next??  I don't know if this makes a difference, but he is a reservist, he is not active duty...I don't know if this affects when he goes to A school, or any of that stuff.

I know what you mean about the waves of sadness! It seems to be getting better as the days go by...I am feeling more like, this is what he chose to do and he is happy about it, so I should be too! I also grow prouder of him by the moment! I hope everything works out well for you and your son!
