I finally got my letter today!!  Anyone else? I thought this would be a good place for us to share some of the experiences of our soldiers with each other.

I got a phone call today! I'm feeling so much better, but I cried as soon as I hung up.  I was trying to be very upbeat with him, as I don't want to make him worry about me.

I'm so happy to see the responses from you ladies,  to hear about your calls,  and it's such a great thing to be able to connect with you.

He said that everyone talks A LOT!  I saw that someone's son said the same thing - LOL.  He likes his bunkmate, and they're the same age.

He's worried about inspection, and is extra vigilant about his clothes folding.  He likes everyone, and said it's a good group.

What surprised me the most was that he said he was homesick the first week.  I knew he would be, but he was really gung-ho and thought that wouldn't happen.  He said it's better now, and having some time off today was really good.

He's such a rule follower - and he's worried about the inspection, the fitness tests, etc.  I told him to just do his best, and it will go well.

He was surprised that I knew they  were a marching division, and I think it made him feel good that I'm following along.  He also said the RDC's are good.

He sounded so tired, but it was the BEST phone call!

One sad note...  He didn't send the request for Thanksgiving Liberty Adopt a Sailor to my correct address, and I haven't received it.  That breaks my heart, but he said "it's ok Mom, I'll see you 2 weeks after at PIR."  I asked him if he could ask, and he said he didn't want to get in trouble.

My SR said the exact same things. Msybe I was really talking to your SR. Lol

I'll send you a copy of the flyer and form tomorrow.  I have it on file at work.  I think it has to be filed by the 8th of November. It's a generic form, so you can use it if you want to spend Thanksgiving with him.  As long as he is one of the ones allowed to leave, and it sounds like he is, you should be fine to use it.

OMG Holly!!  Thank you from the bottom of my heart!  You're and angel and you've made me day - heck, my week!

I wasn't planning on going but my son really sounded like he wanted me to come, so I'm going to try to figure out my best option and try to get there.

That's what we're all here together for :-)

I'm glad to see our SRs seem to be on the same page already. That's a good sign that they are working together!
Did anyone's SR talk about what jobs they will have at PIR? My husband said he has a staff position.

Quinn said he is a section leader.

Too funny! My husband is also a section leader!

That's pretty funny. I don't know what his other job is.

Hello everyone. Havent gotten my letter, but got a call Sunday, so at least I know where my son is, lol.. Ship 02/ Div 906! Quick question, when i looked at the RTC page, I got an address for Ship 02, is it safe to say I can send letters even though I dont have the "official letter" with address yet? Anyhow, good to narrow down to the people who have loved ones in the same Div as my son, found lots of good people and made new friends in the PIR 12/13 page, but feels good to hone in...
