After a long 5 month wait to leave for bootcamp, my youngest son arrived in Great Lakes yesterday, 11-13. He is very excited to finally be going. I know he will do well and am very proud of him. It will be very strange for me to not just pick up the phone and call him like I usually do. I look forward to our first phone call in about 3 weeks. Hopefully these 8 wks will go by fast. Look forward to seeing him at graduation.

My son left yesterday also. We'll see if they are together. I'm calling his recruiter tomorrow. He said he should have the date of graduation.

Trying to get the hang of this site. Mine left from Virginia since he was living there with his Aunt. She is calling his recruiter as well. She has been handling everything since we couldn't be there.

The recruiters will have an estimated date of graduation but not a set one. Wait until you get your letter from your son before making any plans or arrangements. Based on how they score in certain areas they could be held back which is why it's  best to wait for the letter. Make sure you don't lose it once you get it since it will have a password for you to get your gate pass to be allowed on the base.

Join the group, DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in November, to connect with others with loved ones who left today and may have PIR together.  I also invite you to join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) there.

Hi my name is Alice and my son arrived in Great Lakes on 11-12. He too was so excited. I wish I could say the same. I know this what he really wants and I'm so proud of him, it's just so hard not to have him here. Maybe our sons will be graduating on the same day :) If you ever just want to talk I'm here.

Thank you Alice. I get emotional when someone asks about him. I think about what he might be doing every day. He may have left 11-13 but I haven't seen him since 10-9. He came home for a visit for my birthday. He joined from Virginia as he was living with my sister. Had to get him out of our little city here. He is my youngest of 4, just 20 yrs. I just count down the days till I see him at PIR.

I know, they say it gets easier, I just keep wondering when. The house is not the same without him. He's my middle child 19yrs. His brothers and sisters miss him so much too. Even our dog is sad, keeps going in his room waiting to find him. But together we will all get through this.So proud of our young men to have such honorable goals.

Counting Fridays may be less stressful than counting the days to PIR. See Arrival and What Happens

within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones).

I have not heard anything yet. I will sure post when I do.
