Join the group, DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in December  to connect with others with loved ones who left the same day and may have PIR together. Connecting with others who are going through the same thing will help you. There is info on your My Page as well.

Its normal to have these feelings.  My son left last month and I miss him.  I cried when I passed his room, I cried when I watched football. Then I talked to him two days ago and I heard a change in his voice, he sounds happy.  It will get easier.  Hugs mom.

I so feel your pain.  My son left yesterday for BC.  It didn't really hit me till the night before when I dropped him off at the hotel.  I realized that he wasn't going to be sleeping in his room, having dinner with us, watching our favorite shows together.  I've cried for two days.  But I promised that I would try and be strong for him. I need him to know that I am okay, and that he is going to do great!  I can't have him worrying about me. Bless you!  We are in this together.  Let's you and I be strong for our young men.  They wouldn't do well in BC, if they thought that we are falling apart.   Hang in there.  Tomorrow may be a little easier, and then the next day, a little more. One day at a time.

Hang in there!

I felt what you're feeling when my son left three years ago. I cried for a week and it was one of the hardest things I ever went through. It took time to adjust to a new life style. Now although I miss him, I'm filled with so much pride.

Lemonelephant is right. By joining the group you will find others feeling what you're feeling and will support each other.

Hang in there Mom, you can do this. :-)

Hello and I feel your pain.  My daughter left on Tuesday and I feed sort of lost without her.  You can look on the brighter side and know that you have taught him well and he will make you proud of him.  I would suggest to concentrate on the good stuff( times) that you and your son did before he departed for training.  I would gather ideas for care packages to send him and show him just how much you miss him, love him and support his decision.  Be an encouragement to him while he is away because he probably misses you as well but can't really dwell on it because it will cause him to lose concentration.  He has some tough training ahead.  I am with you and I do understand...................be please cheer up and know you did your job and he will always be your son..................but now it's his turn to become the man you wanted him to be...............Trust and have faith things will work out.  I do hope my words of encouragement brings you some comfort.

My son left mid November, and I have not received a call except for the initial quick call stating he arrived. I have received his address a week ago and have written multiple times. I go to mailbox every day hoping to get a letter. I really need to hear from him to assure he is ok, as I am sure he is. Lack of communication I understand is necessary, but boy it makes it hard. I am looking forward to graduation on Jan 17, to see him. Anyone give me some good advise on travel ideas and where to stay?

Hi Tank  You should look into staying at the Navy Lodge.   It is very close to where graduation is held and the room rate is only $66 per night no matter how many in the room.   Book early though because they do fill up fast!  My son left on Nov 12 and I have only received 1 additional phone call after the arrival phone call.  Don't worry you will start to get some letters soon.  They can only write on Sundays.

I invite you to join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones).

My daughter left on November 20th and will graduate on Jan. 17th as well.  Like you, we are awfully anxious to see her.  I just made our reservations at the Navy Lodge and will book our flights today.  Hang in there, Jan. 17th will be here quickly.

My son was sworn in on Nov. 21, the 22nd was his first day at Great Lakes and his 22nd birthday as well.  The longest he's been away from me is a week.  I've never spent his birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day without at least seeing him.  This is hard to do, going through all these things so close together.  Every family get together I cry because he should be there.  He also graduates on 1/17  Div 065.  I can't wait until I can see him!!!  I live just a couple hours away from Great Lakes, and he's going to A School there as well.  I'm so happy that this group is here.
