Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 083 and 084

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

A Mom in the main Boot Camp forum mentioned that her SR knows several fellow SRs in his division who have no one to write them. She said they've stopped coming to the table at mail call because they don't receive anything and it's very sad for them.  Her SR got their names so that she and other members here can write them.  Maybe all of us can ask our SRs to do the same thing (I've already written my son about it) to make sure that no one in Ship 14 has to be left out at mail call time.

Such an AWESOME Day got a phone call and it was longer than 2 minutes and she wasn't crying it was great she told me about everything now I can rest I know she is ok now and I saw some SR's don't have anyone to write to them I am willing to write I just need the names and Div number it should be the same address as my Daughter so just let me know

I so happy for you!!  I got a phone call today and he sounded so much better.  Also got my first letter when I got home.  What a relief to have a funny letter that shows he's feeling more like himself.   He had enough time to call me, then his grandmother and his dad.  We each got five minutes! :)

My son is in Div 083 and in the last 2 weeks I have received three, 10-12 minute phone calls! He also said that he wrote me a five page letter but I have not received it yet. He said most of his shipmates are sick just like him and there were a lot of "talkers" in the division that we're causing some issues and some that do not understand the meaning of teamwork.
On Christmas Day they were given an opportunity to buy a whole bunch of junk food and he thought that was great, until the next day when he was able to call me again to tell me the junk food made him feel even sicker.
They march everywhere they go, and said it was like a 45 minute march from his barracks to the dinning hall. When they get time to themselves, my son says he likes to take that time and shine his boots (which we are still laughing at here). But when they do get sometime to themselves, they are not allowed to sleep.
His last call was yesterday and he did not have much of a voice left from being sick, so I tried to do most of the talking for him. He did want me to send him some pictures that he took while at home to show his shipmates.
I enjoy the calls, but this last one was hard because he sounded so sick and exhausted. There may be some blessing in not recieving calls because loved ones don't have to be subjected to the torment of the dejection in their recruits voice.

I got a call yesterday afternoon from my SR. He sounded so good and upbeat. Said he would have called on Christmas Day, but there are a lot of chatty SR's in the div and the CO was upset with them. They lost their chance to call because of that. But, he finally got the chance yesterday. He said he's gotten my letters and cards - so happy to hear about what's going on. So Awesome to hear from him. :)

Just got a call about 15 minutes ago.  My SR sounded GREAT!!  Finally! He was really upbeat and in a wonderful mood.  Things have turned around for him and he's making friends and getting the hang of it.  He's got to get his wisdom teeth out next week, so he'll have a day or 2 to recover.  He said the food is good and they've had lots of snow. 

He also said they've decided to give them phone time every Saturday for some reason.  He said they were told that they've gotten more phone time than any other Division in history! LOL  Whatever the reason, I'm thrilled by it and so happy to hear him back to his joking, smiling self.  Hope you all wake to phone calls too.

My son just got another phone call because he got a perfect score on an assessment test! Unfortunately my husband was cutting wood with the chainsaw and did not hear his cell phone ring (I was at work), so he left a message! He sounded so energetic and happy on the phone, much different than the other day, which makes me feel so much better. I have listened to the message three times already! I am so proud of him.

No, but he did call on 12/21,12/25, and 12/26 each for 10-12 minutes. So I am not hurting for phone calls, but I am jonesing for a letter. It is all good though. He thought it was funny that when they first received mail, he had one letter from his sister, one letter from his father, and seven letters from me. I want to make sure he gets one everyday. What Div is your SR in?

My daughter and I are also flying in on Thursday, but earlier in the day so we have some time to get acclimated (and to drive carefully in case the weather is bad).  We are staying at the Navy Lodge.
