Welcome to the Division Discussion for Division 913 and 914

Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

I was so excited got another phone call yesterday. ship 02 div 913. She said it is Really cold there and that she misses us at home. I told her we are so proud of her. She also said I should receive a letter by Friday and it should be like 13 pages long. She says to tell everyone on Navy For Moms to writer you SR as much as possible they so look forward to those letters.

Got word that my daughters A school location has changed. She was originally scheduled to remain in GL but will now be in San Antonio, TX. So happy since its actually closer to home! Her rate remains the same. My understanding is that this is not unusual. She's in DIV 913.
Is she in med core by chance? Our daughter is Also scheduled to go to San Antonio we believe. Our AF son just graduated LACKLAND and we greatly enjoyed the hospitality we received in San Antonio. They treat our service members extremely well at the Riverwalk. Grace is Div 914 so they are sister Divisions.

My daughter (ship 02 div 913) called on New Years day! I finally got to hear her voice and she sounded very good! She said she wrote a letter on Sunday and it would take a few days to get here. I was happy she sounded good, she didn't cry and wasn't real emotional like the last phone call. In the background I heard the chief say to the SR's; "I don't wanna see any tears on anyone's cheeks when they walk out this room!". Lol...I thought that was funny...my daughter said the Chief was cool...lol. Now we can say she graduates next month!

So, my daughter sent me a list of items she said I could now send her. My question is: how do I send them? Just pack a box up and send it to her address? I want to make sure I follow procedures correctly so they don't withhold the items from her.
I heard we weren't allowed to send anything but letters as they can get in even bigger trouble, so maybe you should direct that question to the main site. Our daughter only asked for tweezers and my husband who is former AF told me DONT DO IT. At this point he said, all they should be receiving is letters, and not even colored envelopes in some DIV. The instructors just LOOK for anything to use as a training device. My sister sent cookies to my son AF bootcamp. They opened them in front of everyone and then threw them all out. It's for discipline and learning to follow rules. Now for grad you might be able to bring stuff. We are taking her stuff to the airport before she leaves for school that way no one can hassle her. I did send stamps and photos.

What did your daughter ask you to send because there are some things that can be sent to the recruits at this point. If they have asked for contacts, you can send those and a small bottle of solution. They can also have hair straighteners, and curling irons if they have asked for them. All of those items will be for PIR and will be locked up until then.

If you do send them, clearly mark the box with what items are in the box. They will open if in front of the RDC, but it will not be a problem

A big shout out to the family of SR Ki*() whom has helped my daughter through any emotional melt downs she may have had. They are ship 2 Div 914. This is how divisions start to form, by looking out for one another. Our daughter has said she is sure that she will be a life long friend. And the family of SR He*(), SR. Ol*() and your SR are bunk mates and she tells us that SR H*(). Our daughter did say that she is starting to feel more at home and is glad to be part of such an amazing experience although she truly misses her Buffalo family. The kids need your letters of support and photos to share with their new found friends, so take a few moments if you haven't done so recently and get a letter out. May God protect and bless our loved ones during their time at Great Lakes . ... ps I can vouch that it is indeed freezing and blizzarding in the Buffalo Niagara region today. Pray our kids stay warm.

SO WHO IS IN SHIP 2 DIV 914. We are from Grand Island NY. Our daughter SR Ol*() has chosen med core in the US Navy. We should create a list so that when we get to Sarges meet and greet we might shake hands and congratulate one another. We made great friends with families of other service members when my son did bootcamp in the USAF 5 months ago. So hello, we are Kathy and Steve proud parents of our beautiful daughter SR Grace Ol*()i. From the Buffalo Niagara NY area. ( nowhere near NY city) she will be playing flute during the PIR, and also plays piano quite well. She loves sports and played basketball and Lacrosse throughout school. Grace is a HUGE Buffalo Bills Fan. Tell us about your husband, child, wife, brother.........and we send out a heartfelt thank you for each of our future service members at Great Lakes.

Sorry didn't realize SR's last names weren't allowed here. We had a private group site with the AF and were free to use names. And I am pretty lame when it comes to anything to do with social/ group media. Thanks for cleaning it up.

My SR is in Ship 02 Div 914....looking forward to meeting at Sarge's meet & greet. I mentioned your posts to my son in one of the letters and he said your daughter lit up like a Christmas tree with pride to get an unexpected hello and proclamation of love and pride from her family in someone else's letter lol  My SR is a Sax player.

I have deleted a few posts because last names have been included. Gentle reminder to check out OPESEC/PERSEC and the Navy for mom guidelines. You can find those on the main page of this group.
