Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

January's adoption- greetings from dry and dusty Djibouti
Hot and dusty is how it was described to me by my POC . He leads a group of Marines, Airmen,sailors and soldiers who provide communications all over the Eastern side of Africa.
Their WISH list is really very simple .They still have another 8 months in their hot ,humid and very dusty conditions . With 8-10 hours of sunshine a day they are not in need of Winter woollies that's for sure ! The majority of the personnel are married and miss family comforts ,of a letter or painting from their kids . They have plain white metal walls in their accommodation and offices ! For most part French power units of 220v , so not sure how the request for coffee makers will work out . Other than adapters .
Let's show them all some Navy Mom love ,as their pacakages will arrive in Febuary , and help make this deployment go by faster for them .
CLEANING PRODUCTS. This was first and foremost on his list . The sand and dirt gets into EVERYTHING . So ANYTHING to help with DUSTING !!!!

I found French Vanilla creamers & squeeze bottles of MIO type liquid drink flavoring all at "Big Lot's". Two small Nerf footballs & a Frisbee on clearance in K-Mart. Gotta love a bargain!

Hi Sheryl,
I'm not sure how many military folks you have in this group but I will be able to make a big dent in their request for snacks.
We had a packing party. 70 boxes will be heading out for this adoption, possibly more if you need it. The Confirmation kids from my church, St. Francis de Sales in Lake Zurich, raised funds and shopped. The boxes are filled with most of the snack items. We didn't pack any microwaveable snacks or Rice Krispy treats. We weren't sure the Rice Krispy treats would survive the heat but I guess they must be like Twinkies, indestructible!

Hi Laura
We have 88 male and 14 female in our group . They still have till the end of August out there so I'm sure those boxes from your confirmation kids will be gratefully received :)
I think there are quite a few snack things that have that indestructability factor . I found a menorah made from marshmallows on Popsicle sticks from my twins back in '95 ( they are turning 21) and they were still in tact !!! -

The only specifics that we have come up with are:
Coffee - like Dunkin Donuts, Peets, Starbucks - most of us prefer the regular or dark blends / roasts, and definitely with caffeine.
Hard candies or gummies - Lifesaver brand and all flavors.
Dove Liquid Body wash - for one of my Female Airmen
UNO Card games.

I will make another batch of neck cooling scarves to send... I also just bought a bunch of valentine decorations... looked for st patty day stuff but did not see it yet...
I remember my son saying that Djibouti smells about the worst of anyplace (even the outhouses at summer camp) he has ever been. So I will find some air freshners to send and Lysol wipes.
