Today is my son's last day before he leaves for MEPS. We had a wonderful bbq and gathering of friends and family last night including a bon voyage bon fire. My son will ship out on January 7th from CA to Chicago. Today is going to be a hard day. Hanging at home and watching football! Couldn't ask for a better day!

Thank you B'sNukeMoM!

When we dropped my son off at his recruiters office he said he should know by Friday what his graduation day is. However it could be delayed depending on the weather. So if you are looking for a graduation date maybe his/her recruiter can help you sooner rather than later! Good luck and I am seeing some good rates on airfaire through Expedia this morning.

Yes, recruiters sometimes have the address and PIR date within a few days of arrival at the RTC, but wait on the form letter before sending letters.

The most likely PIR date for those arriving this week will be 03/07/2014, but it could be the week before for some since we seldom see more than two weeks in a row without a PIR even when there were three weeks when the RTC did not receive recruits.

This is where this website is helpful.  I can identify with you as tonight is my son's last night at home.  I take him to the recruiter's tomorrow.  Apparently, we can sign him out of the hotel for a few hours and take him to his favorite restaurant for dinner.  For the last week, all I've been saying is, "It's the last time we'll do this or that".  I keep trying to focus on the positive rather than how much he'll be missed.  I was even thinking we may get an extra day if the weather keeps doing what it's doing in Chicago.

I am so with you, we just dropped our boy off at MEPPS in Portland ME hoping with the Atric Vortex his flights are not cancelled. Best of Luck :)

My sons flight has been delayed until Thursday! He gets to hang out at the hotel in Sacramento for a few days.

January  6th was my son's last day his flight was today but its so cold here and we heard that 70% of the flights got cancelled I don't know if he is at the airport still or he made it to RTC still waiting on the " I'm Here Call " My only son so I am afraid to go to sleep I do not want to miss his call...flying out from OH to Chicago...any advice for a Newbie Mom who worries to much? : (

Hopefully, he will be able to make it to GL soon. Start checking out the info in Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and the other Pages in Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). Read 1 or 2 pages a day and then go back to them as you need the info. Take care and blessings to you and yours.

If you have his recruiters number you may want to give him a call. My son's flight from CA was delayed until Thursday. The SR's that were supposed to ship out Monday were delayed as well!

Welcome Ladies!  I invite you to join Bootcamp for Moms-there is a wealth of information, support and encouragement there for whenever you need it.  :)

I will prayer for you son and family.  I am happy for your family having a wonderful day.

This is to ProudNavymom

So my son was sworn in on Wednesday in Portland Maine with in about 3 hours we were on our way home with him. All flights from Meps were canceled due to the artic vortex.  So he is home with us until Sunday when his recruiter will pick him up and bring him back up to Meps and he will then ship out. Did your son make it to Great Lakes?
