Hello Everyone! We would like to start a Basket Project for our, “Meet and Greet” to benefit Sarge and his wife, who put on these Meet & Greets weekly as long as there is a PIR. Sarge and his wife purchase/make this food for you. His wife bakes brownies every week, it is a free meal; they pay for this out of their own pocket. This is just an idea to help supplement their out of pocket cost in which he puts right back into the next weeks PIR.
What is involved is that you simply volunteer to put together baskets or tote bags with items from their state, or bath items or any other goodie items. All these are brought in and placed on a table at the Meet & Greet with a container in front of each to collect the raffle ticket of the people who want to win it. The 2 part raffle tickets are sold. Attendees have an opportunity to place tickets in the container of their choice. Then drawings are made for the winner. I hear it is great fun!! Participation is strictly voluntary on your part! The total of the items in each basket should be like $25 - $35. You can pack the separate elements in their luggage, then look for a basket or container in Great Lakes, if you want. There is a Super Walmart right smack in the middle of the hotels in Waukegan/Gurnee (Springhill Suites, Holiday Inn Express, Courtyard Marriot, Residence Inn). Or the completed basket can be one of their 2 carry-ons. Remember, your purse counts as a carry-on. This info is just what I have gleaned from other groups who have done it.
Let me know if you wish to participate :).

I will add to the PA representation with items from Lancaster County. Thanks for getting this started A's mom!

A's Mom, I know that the general theme is supposed to be our State so if we want to keep a specific theme then I am fine with that.  Texas is a big enough state that I'm sure the baskets will all be different.  I was only thinking of doing something different like a scrapbooking basket for a Navy scrapbook.

Ohhhh Vkat, I was going to make a scrapbook for my son! I'll just wait and win your basket!

Will we all get together at the meet and greet  to put these together?  Is everyone arriving on different dates?  I am staying at the Navy Lodge.. any one else staying there?

i will be there thurs the 6th and staying at navy lodge too

We will be at the Navy Lodge, flying in on the 6th with a basket from our hometown!

TogaMom that is wonderful!!  I will put you down.  Thank you so much for your participation!!

So on the baskets we have many people bring things which will put a basket well over 25.00 - 35.00 A's mom will we just then make a few of each location?? what are your thoughts??  Thanks

Hi Danigirl,
I would say if you can and want to coordinate with someone/ someones to make a basket together that is wonderful. Really any idea you have is great, it doesn't even have to be a basket but anything that can be raffled off, thank again for participating, It's going to be fun!! :)
Mennomom, I will stay away from PA Dutch, Amish... I made a list of ideas yesterday and came up with quite a few! Now to narrow it down. This is a great idea. Thank you A's Mom!
I know KJT'sMomma!!! I can't wait to meet everyone face to face and give a hug to all!!

Just a thought: I plan to send an email to my coworkers asking if they want to bring/donate one item of their choice for my basket. I am very blessed to work with such an amazing staff they would love to be involved. But, I know thats rare and that I have worked places that I would not feel comfortable doing that.
