Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Graduation Tickets?
Hi everyone!!
My boyfriend graduates March 21 in the Great Lakes, however, his 4 tickets are being used by family. I had a bit of a breakdown until I was informed I could still go, I just needed a ticket from someone in his class who wasnt using all theirs. Could someone please give me some information on people to ask?

You can go but you won't be able to get into the hall to see the ceremony unless your name is on the list. Please read the information contain in the RTC's Family Guide (click on link below). It explains everything.

Thats what I thought, but I talked to the Recruiter station and I was told they would allow me as long as they knew beforehand what I was doing

As usual, the recruiters are going off old info, it used to be done. Now it is not allowed.

Sorry to say that you have to be "on the list." When you check into the facility (the graduation hall), you go up to a table and tell them who your sailor is. They look him up and then compare your id to what's on the list. Now, while you might not get inside, they do live stream the event for you to see. If your sailor has liberty that day, then he can go off base and that's where you can meet up with your sailor for lunch or dinner. On the other hand, if he is shipping out right away, he probably won't get liberty.

My son had PIR on March 7 and you had to be on the list (the one the recruit turned in when he/she arrived at RTC). I would suggest live streaming. Friends and family watched it and said it was great.
Our son had liberty following the ceremony and had to be back in his compartment by 2000 hours. He shipped out the next morning for Pensacola and A school, so you may be able to see him during liberty. If he does A school at Great Lakes he would get liberty as well, but gets out later on Friday.

My sons recruiter also told me that he should "make friends" to get them to put our family on their list. Its hard when the recruit has a stepmom, step dad, both parents and a sibling. I cannot leave my other son to watch it streaming because he is autistic, so I dont know what to do.

Sorry to say caleb'smom but if they find out that an SR is putting another recruits family on their list, they can get in a whole mess of trouble if they find out. I heard, don't fully quote me, that they lose liberty, don't know if it's at A school or PIR weekend. Unfortunately the recruiters might be going off something they used to be able to do but you don't want to get another SR in trouble. Some will need to watch online :(
I tried doing that for someone and my husband told me flat our NO :(

I was told that if another recruit does add you to their list for another SR they can get in trouble :( I tried helping out someone cause my husband only has 3 names and told me to pick a fourth.

my daughter said they would not allow this. We also have one person that won't get a ticket. she said they have to go to this one place where they stream it. Kind of upset me.

I know the policy about tickets can be frustrating (personally), but at least they are consistent. I would have been more angry to find out that exceptions had been made for someone else and not for me. And then where do you draw the line?
I know that watching it online is not the same thing as being there, but my family still enjoyed the experience. Rather than focusing on missing the live event, why not focus on the positive of being able to see it? And for those who view locally, you can still see your new sailor after the PIR.
Know that your sailor is lucky to have so many people who care enough that they want to be there, and they understand the rules.
And please keep the focus of the day on your sailor! After all, he or she is the one that has just completed RTC and is on the way to the next life chapter. Celebrate the extraordinary accomplishment this represents, and don't let the ticket issue detract from the celebration!
