Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 097 and 098

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

I got the Ship 09 John F KennedyChallenge Coin today, that I ordered fri=om PIRGifts.com Thank you Craig Maroney. My SR's grandfather will hopefully be coming to his PIR. He broke his hip before our SR was sworn in. And he's been in the hospital, since...he just got transferred to a long term care facility, so it's looking good for him to be able to healed enough to join us at PIR. He is probably the best grandfather anyone could ask for. He's also a military veteran. So, I'm going to have Grandpa pass the Challenge Coin to our SR after PIR. It will be a wonderful memory.

Surgnspicy, how do I sign up for the meet and greet? do you have to be saying at the hotel to go?? I'd really like to attend if possible.

Just go to our PIR Group page and view all of the events on the right hand side.  There is an event there called March 6 Meet & Greet.  Click on that and it will tell you what to do.  And no, you don't have to be staying a that hotel. We're staying at the Navy Lodge but are still coming.  See you there!

Where's everybody gone?  How are you all doing?  Now that the 1/2 way point has come, I'm starting to REALLY get excited.  I found that Old Navy's new spring line of clothes is all about Navy!!! They've got some with anchors, and ship wheels, in blues, whites, peach colors....even skirts and scarves, jewelry!!! FUN!!!!  I went there yesterday and picked up a few things for PIR.  I've gotten my PIR ribbons, my John F Kennedy Challenge Coin.

I'll be sending my SR his preadressed stamped manilla envelope to send all his letters back home in.  As stated by Kathy DeCarlo:  Reminder: Now that you are starting to get mail and they are getting yours, sometimes in the next week or two - make sure you send a USPS or manila envelope, self-addresses and stamped with about $4.00 and let them load it back up with their mail and send it home. They have a little "A and B drawer" in their racks where they store personal belongings and it fills up fast from what the Sailors tell me. So you are doing them a favor by sending this about half-way through! Just fold it up and stick it in your regular mail to them!

I'm also filling out the index card to give him at PIR so he can just enter his flight info on when he gets it.  As stated by Lora McIntosh,

f your Sailor will fly out to a new base on PIR weekend and you plan to meet them at the airport you should mail this info on an index card to your recruit. Once they get their itinerary they should fill it out and then keep it to give it to you at PIR. They won't have this info in time to mail it back to you. When they go back to their ship and rack to check out remind them to get this. This will keep you from ending up at the wrong airport.

Please fill this out when you get your flight itinerary/orders and then give it to us at PIR. Do not mail it.

Thanks for the info about Old Navy. I'll have to get over there and check it out.  We've got to support our SR's! I had a 30 second call yesterday. Our son had lost our phone numbers but called a number from a business card he'd been given from a friend of his dad's. He got his dad for 10 minutes and then got my number but by the time he finally got me, they told him time was up!  It was still great hearing his voice!  Sounds so grown up. I don't know about anyone else, but this is such an intense time. I can't wait until he's in 'A' school and things settle down a bit.

Wow, you got a call, Emptynester77(ship 09 Div 097)?  I was under the impression that they weren't going to be allowed to call until after BS.  So, happy for you, even if it was brief!  :)  Yes, it was actually fun shopping for navy clothes LOL.

Harley03. My son is in ship 09 div 097. PIR 3 7 14. Can't wait to see him. He is going to Pensacola after graduation going to meet and greet with sarge Thursday night.

Good Afternoon All

Wanted to pass on a couple of notes from Sarge for when you get to your hotels. A lot of parents decorate their hotel room doors in support of their Sailors PIR. So lets rock those doors with some RED WHITE AND BLUE!!! He is asking that you also pass the word about the Meet and Greet at the Sundance Saloon to everyone coming so he can get an accurate head count. This is a family oriented get together with a full buffet, DJ and raffles and prizes. He is asking that you RSVP as soon as possible so he can account for plenty of food.

***We are looking for donations of raffle baskets or raffle items and volunteers to help with the distribution of name tags and the selling of raffle tickets before dinner. Please let me know if you are interested.***

He also asked that I pass on something fun for our divisions. This is new for our PIR Meet and Greet the DJ will be asking all willing moms  and grandmothers to come to the dance floor and each division. Then we will dance to the song “In the Navy”. The winning moms of their division of this dance contest will win a gift certificate for division t-shirts from US Boot Camp Gear.  So lets show those other divisions that we got moves!

Jeter's Mom ★Ship 13★Div 102  I can put together a Mary Kay gift basket to represent Wisconsin
