I have a question hopefully someone can answer. My son is currently in boot camp and told me he had to get a procedure done on Feb 24 which was Monday. I know the saying that no news is good news, but I woke up at 4am in a start this morning with a horrible feeling in my gut. I know typically you can't find answers about how your SR is doing, but when they are having a medical procedure done is there anything you can do?

Legally they are adults and when they are in bootcamp unless it is life threatening no one from the base will call and let you know anything, nor can they tell you anything if you call. Only your recruit can tell you what is going on and what they have had done with them.
Not unless the SR fills out the hippa paperwork. The POA is to make medical decisions when they cannot, not to get information when they have the capacity to allow it.
no it wasn't wisdom teeth. I just wanted to make sure he was ok, other than that I don't need details, he will tell me himself. I called red cross to see if they could help and they directed my to the chaplain so I called and left a message. Doubt I'll get anywhere but I just want to know if he's ok. Even seemingly simple procedures have there risks. Thanks for the help and prayers
