Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Have any other Mothers' experienced their sons pulling away prior to leaving for bootcamp? Maybe in an unconscious effort to make it a little easier on us or them??

I got much better right before she left. I just keep thinking this must be hardest for her and I remember reading that we have to just get it together for them and just keep telling them how proud we are of them. Another job for us moms. We need to keep them strong. Good luck!!

That is so normal. You don't say how old your son is but my son did the same when he was leaving for college. I heard from all the moms who's sons were moving on they did the same thing. I think it is a young mans way of growing up and telling himself he can make it and indeed must make it with or without mom. They get over it and will soon be appreciative of mom again.

He's 23. Went to college for a year and a half, worked some. However, the job market here is awful. He then decided that he wanted to join the Navy. He is ready to go and looking forward to it. I know that this is a good thing for him. After all, that is what we raise them for, to leave home, right? It still doesn't make it easy though. He leaves on Monday, March 10th. His dad and I are sooo proud of him.

You are so right, michelle! That's what my parents told me when I was trying to be a tough cookie about my son not wanting me at his swearing in ceremony at MEPS. My son still doesn't actually admit that he misses me, but I did get a boot camp graduation invitation, pictures, and phone calls at each phase.

Join the group, DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in April. You will meet others with loved ones leaving 04/22/2014 or that week who may be in the same TG and have PIR together.

My son just left a few hours ago, and for the last week he hardly left the house. But it is usually normal for anyone who is leaving to pull away, also for the ones who are being left behind to pull away.
