My son left, well he was supposed to leave on Tuesday, but his flight got canceled due to the fire in the tower in Chicago.  Boy was he bummed.  But he left yesterday and I got the scripted call at 12:21am.  I read on here how brief the call would be, and man was it.  It was really good to hear his voice.  He seemed to be in really good spirits.  Ready for the letter so we can start making plans for PIR.  Hope these next two months fly by.

My son left here on Tuesday.... blessings to you!
And to you as well. Thank you.
Wow! Sounds like it was exciting!

My son is at basic now. He left May 6 from Richmond, VA. I didn't even get a call; he called his wife instead (and I don't blame him).

From what I read, your son's last week was probably all 'p-days'. These next 3 weeks should be hard for him; lots of running, swimming, getting yelled at, etc., and - NO SLEEP! He'll be assigned a 'ship' (which is a building) and you'll get an address to mail letters. My son's ship is 14 which is the USS Arizona (not the one in Pearl Harbor).

Let me know where your son is. I'll keep him in my prayers!

My daughter left Raleigh NC on Monday 5/19 - - got a couple of calls & texts while she was in route and then "the call" at 11:57 pm that she was there etc.   The hardest part now is waiting to get info to be able to write!  And PIR info to plan!  Feels like such a limbo during these processing days.....

I'm excited for you!  My son leaves in October.  Keep posting!

Well its been one week.  No Box. No letter. But I am still doing ok.  So very excited for my son.  It is very strange not being able to send him a text to ask him how things are going.

I'm glad you are doing OK. Hopefully, "the box" will arrive soon. The form letter should arrive in the next few days.

My Daughter left April 1st.  That scripted 45 second phone call didn't say much but the excitement and happiness in her voice let me know (at least at that point) she was fine. That helped me make it to the letter.  When you get the letter it's a form letter. The only thing from your child will be their handwritten address. Once again, it's great just to see that.  I wrote every day, and when I got the address I just took the interesting things from each letter. I hear you should only use white envelopes and only one stamp.  It will be a couple weeks before you actually get a letter from them.

Check your My Page.

Hang in there!  Count Friday's instead of each individual day - it will help the time pass faster ;-)

It's been 10 days. Rec'd the box last week, but still have not rec'd the form letter. I've read that several Moms/wives have rec'd the letter and a phone call. Not worried, yet. Just anxious. I am ready to send him some letters and get PIR date so we can plan our trip. Anyone else still waiting?

You should receive it soon. He may have had additional P-Days and had to wait for others to arrive at the beginning of last week, but I would expect him to be in the 07/11/2014 TG, but with all the delays due to the fire and floods, it could have moved him to the 07/18/2014 TG. Loved ones are still getting letters for the 07/11/2014 PIR date and now also for 07/18/2014.
