16hrs since I received that scripted phone call from my son. Unaware of the "scripted" part and or length of phone call (48 sec). I could hear stress in his voice. Also unaware of being able to have accompanied him to his recruiter meetings for preparation on what to expect after final swear in. Maybe he thought I wouldn't have been as supportive had I attended. Definitely unprepared for this journey. Never been away from my three children. My heart feels heavy. Experiencing detachment with my children becoming adults and leaving NEST that's been built with a strong foundation with walls insulated with ADT security. Now not even being able to communicate with my middle child and only son. I feel as if I'm grieving or had a loss. Emotions from PROUD, SAD, UNCERTAIN, EXCITED for his journey, and LONGING to hear him say "I'm going fishing". Never thought it would be so hard to fold his clothes, walk past his door, pick up his shoes, or not hear his car crank. Wondering if there are other navy moms who have experienced these feelings? Today only cried once and here I am writing without tissues thanks to the support from another navy mom (whose ex navy chief).

Beyan's madre dont worry your son will do fine. The RDC's are tough but want them to suceed. My son just gradurated and while it was hard he did fine. Tell your son to : run, do sit ups and push ups. Make sure he can swim. Mentally study navy Creed, general orders, rank recognition. Will be tested on. If he does those and passes PFA ( fitness test) he can be promoted to E-2. Keep good attitude, keep mouth shut. (with every timeGlee time

It is the first PFA that he must pass along with passing the PQS multiple choice test with an 80% or better. See E-1, E-2, or E-3? How did that happen?. There will be at least 3 PFA's at BC, but it is the first one that counts for advancement and the last one that counts in order to g on to Battle Stations-21 (BST) and become a Sailor.

Sorry my phone auto corrected. Lol my sons division got in trouble for talking all the time! Good luck to your son! Stay on Navy Moms and go in PIR facebook page once you get form letter and have PIR date and division etc.

I am right there with you my son left yesterday as well, I only got a 10 sec message, because it was at 1241am and I didnt hear the phone. Except I have cried (teared up) many times today including now

I'm feeling the same way! When my son told us that he decided to join the Navy we were very excited for him. We've supported him with everything he needed to get ready for it. But when the day came for him to leave I just lost it. He left yesterday and I haven't stopped crying since. I also have a heavy heart! But I'm so proud of him! We heard from him this morning around 2:00 a.m.

My son left Oct.  21, 2013. He calls me every Friday after classes and posts on Facebook a few times a week.  We keep each other in the loop.  Let's face facts,  we raised them to be men in every sense of the word.  We love it and hate it at the same time.  I'm looking forward to sharing new and exciting experiences with him.  He's been touring Charleston so he can take us to cool places when my parents and I visit for A school graduation next month.  He's as excited as we are and that brings me peace.  You'll get there.

My son left for Boot Camp last August just 6 days after his 18th birthday.  This was my last child at home, and I don't believe I had been apart from him for more than 1 week at a time in the entire 18 years.  Boot Camp was the hardest part of his whole journey so far.  You want to make sure they fit in, make friends, and are not lonely mostly...but I was amazed at how fast he started to get his stride.  It was mostly stressful for him because of the mind games, making them feel they could fail at any second.  He was lucky to have followed in his father's footsteps and Dad could reassure as much as possible that everything was going to be ok.  He loved the letters and when ever we spoke we always told him to take it one day at a time...and that we were proud of him.  He came through it and graduation was amazing...at least now he has his phone so we talk everyday..I will have to prepare myself when he goes on a boat and we lose communication again!  Just take it one day at a time too..and keep that phone by your ear even when you are sleeping!

My son called yesterday and said he was doing great!!  So far, he's doing well and he sounded happy and upbeat!!  He left a message on my phone because my phone doesn't ring....grrr!!  I have to see the phone company about that in a couple days!  It will be another two weeks or so until he will be able to call again and hopefully, I will be able to answer the phone!!

I am having trouble navigating this page, so if I don't respond, I apologize in advance.  Because of this, I don't check it often.  I hope everyone has a great day !!

Feeling very emotional! How do I find other moms who have children starting boot camp June 24th?
My son also started on the 24th
My son left yesterday ,have not cried today so I quess that is good, hope to hear his voice in three weeks

My son left METS 06/24/14 and went to boot camp at Great Lakes. When he called it was 17 seconds and his voice broke my heart. I feel lost and hurt. I keep praying he is ok. I write him everyday and i am so proud of him but not know if he is ok is the hardest thing. He has so much support. So will these feeling pass? Everyone keeps telling me to go talk to someone but i feel you doesn't have noone and if he can make it; i should be able to. Many people are going write him; his co-workers, his cross fit members; his church members and of course his family and most important pictures of his son scribbles.
