As his departure approaches I am both sad and excited. Sad that my baby is leaving. Excited for his future. We will be joining him at MEPS on Monday and watching him swear in and say goodbye. The hardest part is the 8 weeks of very little communication. Having been through boot camp with my older son I know the silence is difficult. Praying these next 8 weeks go quickly. Any support would be appreciated. Thanks.

We will all have to stick together through this journey. I have been through it with my older son who is in the Army. The 8 weeks of silence is the hardest but the transformation they make is amazing. It will be worth the wait....trust me. Will be praying for all of you as our kids leave.
Having support makes going through these things much easier. My husband was also in the military and was in Desert Storm. I was fortunate enough to be surrounded by a great support system in Germany. There's something about the military that brings people together who would otherwise never meet. It's an adventure for us as well. Praying for your son as he begins boot camp.
My son is leaving Monday as well. We have realized that basic will be the longest he has gone without talking to family members. Praying that these weeks go quickly and smoothly for all of us :)
Devon is 23 and has spent the last three years at WVU. We will miss the ability to just call his cell phone....but, I plan on writing him each and everyday.
This is a great website.
Let's stay in touch.

Oh my goodness, my son is 23 and has spent the last 5 years in junior college LOL Not hearing from him is going to be tough for all of us at home but we just bought 3 books of stamps for each of us yesterday :)
Are you planning to go for graduation?
As I said above we will all have to stick together. Having support for the next 8 weeks is important. We can cry together and rejoice together when it is over. It will be an amazing experience for everyone. Praying for you all as they leave.
