Hi everyone I am new to this group, does anyone have a significant other where after boot camp they got to come before going to BECC (Basic Engineering Core Course)? And there job in the navy is a HT (Hull Technician)?

My fiance is an HT, and he's been in a year. I had an hour with him right after PIR, and then he had to check in to the other base. He was released on liberty around 3:30 that afternoon, and he had to be back by 10 PM that night. For Saturday and Sunday, I could pick him up at the gate around 6:30, drive back to his ship and sign him out for the day, and again he had to be back by 10. They dont typically get any leave, but you do get almost the whole weekend with him :)

Are you guys from chicago? and did he have to go to A school? or BECC? My future sailor told me he have 10 days of leave after bootcamp, but now im hearing different.

No, were both from PA. I think he may be confusing leave with being on hold. He'll have about of week of indoc, or orientation, then in my fiance's case, he was on hold for BECC about 2 weeks. During those two weeks, he would clean around the ship, or being in a working party doing something around base. They still have a work day while they're on hold, but they arent all that busy.

ok and are they allowed to use there phones if i was to bring his phone back to him

They can have their phones back the day they graduate boot camp, along with laptops, tablets, and anything else like that. He cant wear civillian clothes until he reaches liberty phase 2, though, which I believe is at least 30 days now. I could be wrong about that. I would check the Great Lakes A school group for more info on that.

okay thank you so much for answering my questions! i really apperciate it :)

Any time :)

He may be confused because other services such as the Army allow leave after boot camp.  The Navy does not.  Leave is paid time off where they can go home, like vacation days.  Liberty is normal time off such as weekends and evenings, and there is a travel limit.

He will go to BCC AND Ht engineering strand.
