Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I am sitting at home all alone - and missing my boy more than ever. It has been almost 2 weeks since he left. I mailed off my first letter to him today! I can not wait till I receive my first letter from him! How is everyone coping? I feel like I am struggling. There are so many changes going on right now in my life - not just my son joining the Navy. Since he left, I have been trying to keep myself busy, but sometimes I just fall apart. Is that ok to allow myself to do that? I have to be strong for my other kids - but sometimes it is so hard. I guess I am asking for some words of encouragement! Any words would be nice! Thank you!

Yes, it's fine to fall apart every now and then. Just don't stay there. Showers are great places for that. You will get used to the new normal and getting that first "real" letter next week may help (remember though that the first letter from a recruit may indicate things aren't going so well--don't worry; it will get better).
You raised an amazing young man who is pursuing his dreams. Stay busy, stay connected with others going through the same thing (join your PIR group as well), stay informed (there's a lot of info in the Pages in this group and in your PIR group), stay there for the ones who are still at home by being involved with them, and stay involved with your SR by writing encouraging letters (see Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit for ideas).
(((((hug))))) that's a cyber hug from one Navy Mom to another.
Thank you! It helps talking to other moms who are going through the same thing! I'll try the shower! LOL
:o)
Check your My Page.
Thanks! It is nice to have support from other moms!
Awe, Sweet Mommy. It will be okay. It gets better. I have been there. My son has been through boot camp and has been in school for a while now. I miss him so much! They are doing important work for our country. You are proud, I am sure.
