My son left 07/09 for BC... Is a CS with no experience. What will happen after PIR? When will we get time with him? How long is A school? Does he come home before being stationed?

When my son was on liberty he just wanted to be with family and to take a shower by himself lol. Since it was the dead of winter we just hung around most of the time and did nothing really. That was his choice. PIR was an amazing time and just a very proud celebration. You can take him his cell phone and if he has a laptop take that to him also. We were able to skipe with our son while he was on hold and at A school.

My daughter is also FTR CS and I have NO idea what is going to happen. A friend of mine is a SM in the Army and looked up Fort Lee CS program for me.  It seems the next program after graduation in Sept may not be until October so it looks like they'll be hanging around Great Lakes a little longer.  I'm glad you asked this question because the information I read about having to wait for them for 4 hours will allow me to figure some things out to do with my boys (5 & 6) in that time.  I'm so proud of her and so excited to go to PIR.  I can't believe she's gone but I know the time will fly by.  Maybe we will see each other at PIR.  Let me know when you find out the date your son graduates.  My daughter left the same day as your son.  :)

I hope to know in a few days what graduation day is... I received the BOX today and it really hit me. He is on his own... Can't wait to talk to him soon! I am very excited for graduation and plan on waterproof mascara and lots of Kleenex... Going to be blubbering mess but so happy and proud of him.

Look up Sarge meet and greet night before PIR... Hope to meet lots of parents prior to going to graduation. I have learned more from those helping me through on this site and looking at PDF posted on here. We can help each other through with help and support from everyone here on the way!

I can totally relate to your feelings about the box.  I couldn't open it for 2 weeks.   Boot camp does go by so fast though.  My son has been at Fort Lee since the 6th of June and he just got his orders this week.  He's been assigned to the USS Gonzalez which is dry docked right now.  That's not such a bad thing because he's only about 7-8 hours away from us so we can go visit him on long weekends.  My son plans on coming home after A school graduation (he thinks around August 6th) and will drive his car back to Norfolk where he is stationed.  If he's there for a while he'll want to have a car.  He might not even be living on the ship.  Once your son is assigned a ship, you can google it and read all about it.

Hi @mimiburl@yahoo.com how does your son like A school?
