Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 261 and 262
These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.
Get to know each other, your SRs are!
Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.
Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.
Hang in there!!!

I got the same phone call :( so sad that we won't hear from our SR's for about a month. I told my son that I would try to write him more, and he said please.
I got the same call, lasted one minute. I've talked to him a total of about 11 minutes since he left home. he sounded exhausted and did mention many more are going home lately. he seemed disappointed he had not received any pay on the 15th, but I didn't think he would...
I hadn't heard that there were folks leaving. That's sad. I never got a call other than the one Sunday night. Of course, I've only gotten one letter too. Well like they say, no news is good news. Just wish I'd hear more about what's happening!
I've only had one letter, also. I did get two phone calls but it still left me wanting more details. I thought of things I would like to have asked after we hung up!
Just received more letters from our girl! She seems to have "made the turn". Not much homesick anymore - yeah! She is counting the days until PIR. She did mention that something "strange" happened the other day. One male & one female from her division (261) were "Captain's Mast" - kicked out of the Navy and sent home for passing letters to one another! Wow. Hope all of our SR's are well.
I also got several letters from my daughter today. She said they lost 2 people, but didn't explain it. She did say there was another strange and scary incident, but everyone is good and the incident has been resolved by an arrest made. Yikes.
Evidently daughters write more than sons! Wonder what happened and if we'll ever know! I guess some things are better not known. :)
I didn't hear from my son last night. He's in 262. Anybody know what's up?
My son is in 262 as well. I heard from him last Monday (one minute call) saying they would not be able to call any more until graduation. Surprisingly, I heard from him mid-day Saturday, my longest phone call yet! (though very hard to hear him). The division apparently won a bet with Chief and so some were able to make phone calls! :)
Son said he was able to do 70 push ups in the allotted time and wasn't winded. This is super awesome to hear...
He also said the division is still ranked #1 for their testing...? but they had a division ______ (I don't recall the term he used) more or less the entire division received demerits or points removed due to an infraction. This time, it was a recruit forgetting to cross his zeros. He seems absolutely driven to achieve a hall of fame division honor so this was quite a setback, though they are still #1.
He sounded good, things are getting tougher though. He seems to be making friends! This is cool, my son is an engineer type brain and friendships have always been somewhat superficial and not needed. I suppose you take away all electronics and media, and talking to another human becomes interesting! :) There was an arrest made of a recruit about to graduate. I won't speak more of it without knowing all of the details, but it sounds like it was a very stupid move on the recruits part and well warranted for removal and arrest.
I'm buying my ticket this week and booking hotel/rental car. I'm so nervous about it! I will be the only one able to attend, my other sons first football game is on the 22nd as well. Boo.
I got the same call on Sat! It was exciting! It was 14 min call.
That's nice to know that 262 is in first place. I guess I didn't hear from him because he may not have phone card. I sent one Friday but suppose he won't get it until Tuesday or Wednesday. I hate to think that I won't hear from him anymore until I see him at graduation! That's too long. :( We'll be booking our flights this week as well. We have relatives in Chicago, so we'll be staying with them a few nights. I hope my son doesn't have to go straight to Pensacola, without some good family time beforehand!
My son is also in 262. He called last Tuesday, and said that this was his last phone call home until the "I'm a sailor" call. Kinda sad, that we won't get to hear from them for a while. No news is good news, and hopefully the letters keep coming. However, my son doesn't write much, but at least he writes some.
