My son just got his date to leave for BC in October 2014. Haven't seen any posts since 2013 on this board. Looking for others that are finding there way here with same dates?

You are very welcome.
Hello lemon elephant -
My son departs for BC October 2nd. Counting 9 Fridays it would place his PIRon the 28th Day of November. I have read what possibility you had written that, PIR is possible on the Wednesday prior to the holiday. Do you know what has occurred in the past year or two, around this specific time?
PIR is most likely 11/26/2014 (PIR is ALWAYS on Wednesday of Thanksgiving week), but since he is arriving on a Thursday and more recruits arrive in the fall, it is possible that PIR could be 15/05/2014 if he is one of the unlucky ones to have 10 Fridays instead of the typical 9. You will have to wait on the form letter to know for sure. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC.
If he were unlucky enough to have PIR 12/05/2014, he would be eligible for the Thanksgiving Adopt A Sailor program.
Goofytroll - after reading your post, I too, am the same way...I'm a planner and would love to have my family's "ducks in a row" - due to Thanksgiving Day falling around PIR. However, I hear that "flexibility" is key and recommended. So, I'm trying to have an open mind and remain calm about so many things.
Yep, you definitely need to be flexible.
My son leaves for BC October 6th! Just trying to learn to navigate this site and get all the information for a smooth transition (other than the emotions, that is).
My son leaves on Oct 8, 2014. He is the first to go into the military. I am very nervous
My son leaves October 2nd. Im very proud of him! I'm curious to find out how their graduation will tie into the holiday Thanksgiving day & weekend.
:o)
