For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My daughter was all set to hand in her officer packet and now she says she doesn't think so because officers cannot get married or have children. True?

Absolutely false. My husband is an officer. Two of my officer spouse friends are pregnant. One of the female officers at my husband's command is due to give birth to her second child (she also had the first while on active duty) in the next couple of weeks, and yes, she is married. An officer we know at another command in our area had her first child a couple of weeks ago, and her husband is also in the navy as an officer. One of the female officers my husband served with on his first ship has two children. Well... you get the idea. :)
That being said- if she is looking at the Naval Academy, yes, while at the Academy there are restrictions on being married and having children. Students at the Academy are not permitted to be married, be pregnant (or become pregnant while a student), or have responsibility for a child. However, once she graduates from the Academy, she is free to get married or have children like any other sailor. If this is a problem for her, she can look at ROTC, OCS if she already has a degree, or STA-21 if she is already serving.
