For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Actually, during Christmas is ideal for a student sailor. There will be a holiday stand down when all the students are afforded the opportunity to take leave and fly home for two weeks (or so). They are encouraged to take this leave, even if they have to "go in the hole" (borrow their own leave days). Because she will be on leave, she does not need to fill out the special request chit, although she should ask hre chain of command there what they would prefer she do about that. The official stand down dates will be released in October or November, you can look at a calendar and guess, but do NOT book flights early.
While the Navy will not pay for your move to FL, they will give your sailor BAH (housing allowance) once you are her spouse and in her service record. Whether she can live offbase with you during school will be decided by the training command's policies and details such as her liberty phase status. That can all be sorted out later. Generally, a married sailor can only "brown bag" if the school is long enough, and does not include C school.

Right now would be a good time to begin a folder with all your personal paperwork such as your SSN card, birth certificate, and anything else you can think of. Legal, certified copies from the state. It takes time, so you may as well get a handle on it now. If you already have, great!
