My daughter's recruiter came to our house tonight for his first check in since DEP. It seems strange to hear him refer to my daughter as Seaman Recruit. He is now her mentor. She has to learn the Seaman's Creed by her 1st DEP meeting which is next Wednesday. The meeting is suppose to be the first of every month but with the holiday this week and along with him having an exam they bumped it to next Wednesday. They will be playing softball. Still feels like I need a dictionary or a decoder ring to understand what they are saying sometimes.

Yes- And he has been completing the "modules" sent home by the recruiters office.
:o)
I think it's great how involved your daughter's recruiter is. No, she doesn't HAVE to learn the Sailor's Creed before going, but it's great that he's pushing her to, and if she can test before going, she can get promoted to E-2 which would be great for her.
He's playing softball with her?
The recruiter did come to our house even though our son was already 18. It seemed more to make sure we as a family understood all that was expected from our Son. I thought it was a great idea. I had already run off the Marine recruiter because he was afraid to come to the house.
Yes the recruiter told her to memorize the Sailor's Creed before the first DEP meeting. Apparently he has them say it together at the start of the meeting.
He is not playing softball with just her. They are playing softball as part of the first DEP meeting. He is really pushing them to get use to the idea of working as a team.
I also like how much the recruiter involves us. My husband knows the drill as a 6 year veteran of the Navy but this is all new to me.
Truly awesome and possibly the first positive recruiter story I've ever heard. Most are awful salespeople and lie or tell the recruits what they want to hear, or think they do. The Marine recruiter told my son, "in the Marines, we sit around playing video games all day".
You should contact your recruiter's superior and tell him how pleased you are.
