While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

PIR DEBRIEFING
INTRODUCTION: A place for parents and others who have attended PIR and graduation weekend to share comments, suggestions and ideas that will hopefully make it easier and more enjoyable for other familes who are preparing for their own PIR events.
WHAT TO DO: This is an 'interactive' forum, with each person encouraged to start new topics (by posting your comments in the 'blank' at the top of each page) -and- respond to individual posts (by clicking 'reply' on that particular post).
ALSO: Over time, I will be organizing some of the posts herein as a sort of 'guide' which will be static -- that is, there will be no new posts to that discussion... thus it will not actually be a 'discussion' but more of a factual and flowing narrative that takes the reader, moment by moment, through happy hours of PIR, covering the basics with good recommendations about what to do, what not to do, and how to do (or avoid) doing it.
To get started on this process, it would be very useful to hear from you regarding which posts and/or particular information do you think should be included? Sincerely, I look forward to hearing from you and transcribing our collective wisdom for those who will attend PIR soon.

My son doesn't leave for A school(Pensacola) until Sunday and we were heading back to Florida early Sunday morning(3am), how will my son get his electronics if he can't take it back on the base Saturday night. Any ideas or suggestions??

See if there is someone else who has a Sailor leaving at the same time and see if they will pass his things to him for you. If you can't do that, check with the USO and see if there is a secure place (a locker perhaps) that you could leave things at the airport on Saturday and give him the key because he could take a key back to the RTC.

If we take the shuttle to PIR. How do we pick up our Sailor for Liberty?

Your Sailor can go back with you to the shuttle stop and take the shuttle back to the hotel.

I need some hotel advice for PIR weekend 1/16/15. My son will be staying in GL for A school I believe, so we will have some time to spend with him. We would like to find a hotel with a family suite (full kitchen, with seperate living/sleeping area. But, we also will be traveling with a 12 year old who REALLY wants an indoor pool! I found the Homewood Suites Lincolnshire but its 12 miles from base. Is there a place closer to base with these same amenities??? We have a car but I don't want to spend 2 hours per day in car driving to/from base.... Any suggestions???

Check out the info in Saving Money PIR Weekend. What is his rating going to be? By knowing that we can tell you if he will indeed be staying in GL.

I don't know what his rating is going to be. I don't know what "rating" means actually. He enlisted under a pac program, and was told throughout his DEP process that it was in GL. I have checked out all the info on the site and that page also, but I don't see anything about the hotel I am looking at.

I'll leave info about PACT on your My Page. He currently does not have a rating since he enlisted in the PACT program. Those with a contract for S-PACT and E-PACT have training at GL after boot camp.

Because I like to plan ahead for these things...where should I book a hotel for the night before PIR? My husband will most likely have to wait for us in the hotel until after the ceremony and I'd like for us to be as close to the base as possible. (SOOOO wish we could have more than 3-4 guests...it makes things so difficult. ugggh.)
