Cathy my boyfriend too
Same ship and division
My daughter arrived at boot camp on 9/24 and I have not received a letter. Oh, the anxiety!

The average time to receive the form letter is 10 days after arrival.

It has all the hotels nearby, the 4 people they chose to come for graduation, what is expected the morning of, about "A" school if its at great lakes or if its not there, their address (which you can get from their recruiter) thats how i got my daughters and started writing to her. It does say mail can take 5-10 days.

I just wanted to share that I got a 30/50 second call last night from my boy. Oh my goodness, so good to hear his voice but I lost it about 15 seconds into hearing his voice!!  I had to hand the phone to my husband.  I felt silly but I couldn't help it. He sounded great. They gave him a quick call just to get his banking information so we couldn't get very much info from him.  Ugghhhh, it was so tough but so great at the same time. I hope I am a little more prepared for the 3 week call.  ;-)  Thanks for letting me share with all of you.  It is so fabulous having this site to help us ALL get through this.

Wow that's great you got a call. Stay strong he is going to be fine. I bet he enjoyed talking to you even if it was, brief and about banking.
Hello. I am from Southern CA and was wondering about flight cancellations in Chicago. I am really worried that around his PIR the weather will be bad. It's Nov 21.

Also does all mail we send really take 5-10 days to get to our recruits?

I suppose that average daily highs and lows of 46°F and 33°F with a 48% probability of precipitation at some point in the day would be catastrophic by some peoples standards, but not in the Chicago area. The record snowfall for Nov 21 was 3.0 inches in 1893, hardly enough to have a good snowball fight.

Bring a warm jacket and an umbrella.  And don't worry so much. ;)

Thank you! Yes you called me out on it. I am a big worrier but I need to calm down relax and enjoy the ride! Thanks for the reply.
My son left on 9/24 from Tampa Florida. I just received his box but haven't received a letter. I called his recruiter to see if he can help me with some information. Thank you everyone for the updates. Waiting for PIR to schedule time off from work and flight

My son left from Tampa as well on 9/24, we were probably at MEPS together when the boys were sworn it.  Got our "kid in a box", but still no letter.  How frustrating is this!
