Hello everyone!
I am waiting for my first homecoming!!! I would love to know what to expect. Any tips would help. I will be traveling from Florida, so I'm sure warm clothes are a must!

Hello spheather--Hopefully your sailor added you to the FRG (Family Relief Group) list and you have received the detailed information that went out recently, regarding all that there is to know about the homecoming. Your sailor not only has to add you to the FRG list but also to the list at the base gates.
Thank you Denise! No, he hasn't added me to FRG. But I am on the list at the base. I just sent another email asking him to do so. I appreciate you getting back to me! It's all so new to me!
Have him get you on the FRG list asap. They have already announced that they will not be answering emails as it gets closer because they will be so busy with preparations. Once on the list, you should receive a welcome email and the instructions for the big day and the night- before gathering.
I am getting nervous. I can still go without being on the FRG list right?
Yes, you still go if you are on the base list. Try sending your son the address of the FRG to make it easier for him. He has to include your personal information and request that you be put on the FRG email list.

I will send again now. Thank you. Would you know about what time I should show up at the base incase he dosen't get me on the FRG list?
My son told me he but me on the base list, but I haven't gotten any info on what time, or ANYTHING! So I must not be on the FRG list. Its all very frustrating. ?...
Unfortunately, the FRG cannot disclose a time for arrival. The last homecoming, my son called me as the ship was getting closer. He may be able to let you know in a "code" as it gets closer to the day. I'm sorry, I know it's frustrating. Not having definitive answers to times and dates is the most difficult thing about having a loved one in the Navy! When are you arriving in Norfolk?
On the 13th. I have calmed down some! lol I will be at that base and we will be with each other. Thats all that matters! People have told me to just get there early. Im sure if I goto the wrong gate, they will tell me where to go! :)
I am confused. Does your comment about the 13th mean that is the expected arrival date? I am new to this. This is my daughter's first deployment. My hotel reservations are for a later date.
