Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 069 and 070
These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.
Get to know each other, your SRs are!
Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.
Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.
Hang in there!!!

My son is part of this brother division. He is div 070. He got to call this weekend which surprised us even though they failed their inspection!!!!. But said that things are going to get intense starting this Wednesday. Don't know when we will get to talk to him again. I hope all that have SR's in these two divisions have had an opportunity to talk with their SR and maybe even received a letter. I look forward to get to know other Moms/Parents/Wives in this division. I have gotten so much out of this website, words can't express!
SailorMomK,
Jonathan is in Div 070 and he is staying at GL for A School. We have received a few calls and 1 letter. He said something about missing the cut off time last week.
Yes, My son is staying in GL for A school.
I just now found this group...AHHHHH!! sooooo excited!
My son is 069 and is staying GL for A School as well O.S. I have gotten 4 calls in total last one being on Christmas, lots of letters, but we also sent him extra stationary supplies and stamps so he wouldn't run out. We just got a letter last Friday that he wrote before Christmas. He mentioned that he hadn't heard anything from us for awhile, but we send several per week.
My son is in 069 and also got to call his Dad and his best friend on Sunday, Yes, he said they failed their first inspection, but he was optimistic and although tired (read as exhausted lol)....he was in good spirits. I can't wait to see all of you at GL in January at PIR....
Hi, we are from the Dallas, TX area and our son is on Ship 14 Div 070. We have had a few calls and one letter from him. He seems to be doing well despite having strep throat x 2 and getting his wisdom teeth taken out. Are any of you guys from Texas?
JennMidg - Jon
HI JennMidg - Jon. My son is also ship 14 div 070. We only got one letter but two phone calls. He didn't say anything about wisdom teeth. He didn't have them out before he went but I'm sure the Navy will take them out if there could be a problem! He said his boots fit good but he has skinny legs and can't tighten them so he has blisters on the back of his legs. He also said that things were not too stressful yet but this week the training really begins!!! We are from Virginia. I hope your son is feeling better. At least he got a couple of days R&R with the wisdom teeth extraction! Hopefully we will get to hear from our sons this week for the holiday!
Lilo54,
Your son's poor feet...that is awful! Jonathan mentioned they had a difficult test last week. He feared he failed but our prayers were answered. He said two SRs were held back due to failing it twice. That must be difficult for the guys to lose a buddy. I remember in nursing school every semester we lost people and it was hard on those of us going forward - you become a team. I am really excited about the friendships he is making and skills he is learning. Jonathan is the Religious Officer (?) for their group. Not too sure what all that means but he seemed excited.
Where will your son go to A School? Jonathan will stay at Great Lakes. I wish you a very Merry Christmas. I know this will be difficult for both of our families but our kids are going to do great things.
Merry Christmas to you too. My son is going to Nuke school in Charleston, SC after boot camp. I pray that he has passed all his tests. He sounded very upbeat when we talked to him last week. But he didn't mention any tests. He also said that he volunteered for the laundry duty. I don't envy him on that at all. He said he now appreciates all the laundry that I have done over the years!!!! As you know, the next few days are going to be tough with celebrating the holidays without our boys. But, I look forward to seeing him in January looking all handsome in his winter uniform and proud of him of his achievements. As of course, you feel the same for your son!
Lilo54,
Our boys, now young men, will be more handsome as ever. Laundry duty? God bless him as I hate doing the laundry. It is funny how life comes full circle - isn't it. We are very excited to see what Jan. 23rd holds as we will be holding our son again. We have presents under the tree for him and his childhood stuffed animal sitting by the tree. It will be difficult for sure!
