This to will pass mom, hang in there and go visit or shop with a friend ( your hubby) or just call someone and talk. If you have lots of family let them know what days are hard for you. My was Sunday afternoons. So tear here and there then I would get some boxes and clean out a closet. church is good to go and pray if you feel it in your heart. I just pray that god will still my heart. We are proud of our boys. so know that they are brave and doing this for their country.
I can totally relate. My son left on 1/9. Its been 5 days and it feels like forever. My emotions are running wild. If only the knot in my chest would go away!! Take Care!
I'll say a prayer for you. I think I will be in your position soon. My son leaves on 3/12/15. I'm already feeling overwhelmed. It's the thought of not being able to talk to them. My son is not home a lot with working, etc., but at least I know I can pick up the cell phone and call him if I needed to talk to him. At RTC this is not possible. Hangin there.
God and His Word are what I have to cling to now. My son just arrived at GL last night. This is the hardest thing I have had to do. So thankful for others in the same position as me to keep each other encouraged.
From one mom to another, keep busy. I'm sure your son would like to know that you are holding up well through this transition in his life. He his growing up! If you keep busy you will have a lots of new things to write to him about! Work, volunteer or take a class and in something you always wanted to learn. In the end it will make you both happy. Take care.
Today my son had his Will done along with a medical power of attorney and general power of attorney giving me authority to bank for him, renew his registration, etc. He is leaving in 35 days and he so positive and good with his decision that I have to stop and think about him and not me and I have to realize that he is doing what he wants to do with his life, just like I did when I was 21. If my mom said something to prevent me from following through with my decisions then I wouldn't have my son to worry about (nor my other two children for that matter). I have to stay strong and positive, just like my sailor.
I completely understand where you're coming from. My husband hasn't been gone long either but it sill hurts not having him around. Keep busy. And when I say "busy" I mean to the point where you're exhausted. So far that's the only thing that's worked for me because in the down time, he's all I can think about.
Keep your head up!
We're all here for you. (:
Check your My Page. I left groups for you. Email is the best way to contact him, but the Sailors don't always have access to their email or the internet. It will all depend on where they are and the privileges they have. He will respond when he is able and chooses to. Has he posted on his facebook page? My Sailor posted at times when he was at sea or in port and I was able to keep in contact with him that way.
I feel your sadness. I am trying to prepare myself for my son to leave. He has boot camp in about 3 weeks. I cry everyday now, I know it will only hurt more when he leaves. I pray everyday for strength
My son just arrived at GL last night. I didn't think 1 person could have so many tears, but I cried from the time he left til I received his I'm here call. You did the right thing, connect with those who have experienced what you are going through. I am expecting both good and bad days,it goes without saying. But I am putting my trust in God to protect all of our children and to give us, parents, the grace to get through. God works through people and I believe he works through those on this site to encourage each other. We are all in this together!
