OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 807 and 808
Be very aware when posting about your SRs who are in this division. Make sure you read the OPSEC rules (everyone should).
sjtina, cor and a couple more ladies will be joining this discussion to answer your questions about the "800" division.
Although your SR is still in BC, what they are doing may be slightly different from what the other divisions in this training group are doing. It is also recommended that you go into your "settings" (clickable link on the right side) and change your privacy setting to "private" and change everything to friends only.
Please still use the main wall to post general questions, and concerns, such as meet and greet questions etc. Specific questions regarding the 800 division should be posted here.
We “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion groups as often as we would like to, and the ladies helping out with the 800 divisions don't always get to the main wall as often as they would like.
Every single question that is asked is important
Every single concern is genuine
Every single member is important to us
We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hello. My son is in 808. I am very new to all of this and happy to be here! The comment about things being slightly different than the other divisions...can someone please elaborate or clarify? Thanks so much.

I was just curious about the last 800 group (806) to PIR ( which was Friday) so I looked up their discussion. I have an employee who I think was in that group. It looks like they didn't get their "I'm a sailor calls until two days before graduation. I've heard that sometimes they get so busy that they don't even get to make a call. I know I'm jumping the gun a little, but I'm so excited to have BC done. I wonder if our guys will be able to visit Navy Lodge. I also hear sometimes they can, and sometimes not.

Stacy, this is a new situation with Navy Lodge. Just popped up in the Fall. I have been on the PIR groups for 5 years now and before that, it didn't happen that we were aware of. Yes, we are talking about spending time in your hotel room, not overnights. Some sailors in the last few months from GL A School were told not to go near Navy Lodge or Gateway and they were not issued the chits that would allow this The ones reporting said that none of the graduating sailors received this chit. This is not affecting those flying out....RTC allows the visits; but A School is not always allowing them. It is a problem....

The I'm a Sailor calls come in starting as early as 2pm Central on the day they finish BattleStaitons (23 hr overnight drill). Recently the groups have been going as late as Wed night of PIR week....and some families literally got to PIR not knowing if they had sailors or not not receiving their calls on Thurs. Whether their sailors could call on that Thurs depended on how busy they were, and it sounds like they were very busy! They hit their racks at 8 pm the day they finish BattleStations, totally exhausted after being up since early the day before.

By the way, the ladies I heard from a couple of months ago who had sailors not allowed to visit Navy Lodge were in the 800 division. One told me there were 4-5 families that she was personally aware of whose sailors could not visit there, all in the 800 division. Not sure if that makes a difference....

I guess the best idea is to stay away from the Navy Lodge or Gateway to be on the safe side and just plan on another hotel? Can anyone provide some other names of hotels that they are staying at?

It's a decent hotel for $66/night. That's whats good about it. No thrills so to speak of, no internet unless your sitting in their small lobby. It's relatively close to base but no matter how far away the hotel is, you will be waiting a long time in line to get through the gates on Friday morning. I think that's why Sarge's service is so popular (although I've never used it). I did pass his number along to my son and he used his taxi services after we left to go into town, or to go get breakfast at some waffle house that is supposed to be fantastic. I think it was called Wildberries or something close to that. I've never been, but I plan on finding it this time I'm out there.

Got a letter today! Hopefully you all did too. His biggest complaint was the food, not the cold which shocked me. His humor is still intact and he's making friends. It's a good day! Plus I booked airline tix and car rental. I'm all set to see him on 3/20. Have a good evening everyone.

I got one too! I was so surprised. He said that things are good, he's just anxious to get on to the next level. He said the guys are all pretty cool, and that the instructors have everybody's interest at heart.

Here are 2 hints for those who want to drive to PIR:
Stay to the left on Buckley....main drag to RTC. Car line will be on your right.....starts early (remember gates open at 6:30 ). Bypass RTC and turn around in the train station heading back from opposite direction. Easy and quick left turn onto RTC.
Other option is to park at the train station (I believe it costs about $1.50) and walk back to RTC gates...about 1/4 to 1/2 mile walk, but not a bad one (sidewalks). That way you have no wait to get off base either!
