Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Not an easy day
Its been 18 days! I never in my life thought this would be so hard! I thought I could coast through this transition of him not being here. But im not. Im really sad today. On the virge of tears. I miss not talking to him on a daily basis, I got a letter from him yesterday, It was short but sweet...Just needed to vent

Love this. We do need to be proud of our kids and what we have done for them so far and let them continue to grow. It is such an exciting time for all of us.

My son hasn't left for BC yet but I am already feeling those mom strings being tugged really hard! Thanks for the post BunkerQB! Perfect reminder for us Moms! Some days I am READY to send my son off and others, well, you all know ....:-)
Kudos to everyone for keeping it together and getting on with your lives. I so appreciate reading all of the posts and comments. I know this will help July 7th be an EASIER transition date. Or so I am praying.... lol

I could really use this to feed my heart and my brain as I go through this journey. My son's ship date is 8/12/15
and I'm trying my best to do my research from this wonderful site and gather as much tips and advice from the members with various experiences with their Navy loved ones.

Thank you for this. It put things in perspective and I will put my best act on for him so he won't know that I am sad because he is leaving. He will be successful and will not know my heart is hurting. he leaves on 3/11/15. The days are flying by, but it will be okay. Thanks again.

Gosh! I wrote that? Not bad.
OK, moms. Take a deep breath. ENJOY the time w your recruit before D date (that is for departure). You don't want to waste it thinking about this is the last time for this or last time for that. Seriously, do you regret that last time you had to change his diaper? Well, maybe some of us do - that is why we look forward to grandchildren (I am told).
Don't try to keep it in. That will be a recipe for a disaster. We understand when those crying bouts inexplicably appear. Just take yourself to someplace private, shed a few tear, reread my post above, pull your shoulders back, smile and press forward. You are a mom. You can do this. It's in your DNA.
P.S. You should printout comments that help you and carry them in your purse. Look at them whenever you feel the need.

I'm at day 14. I'm doing much better than I was, but still have moments of getting Geary eyed. I haven't talked to him or received a letter from him. It's hard, all I can do is hope he's doing ok and knows I love him. But if I don't get a letter or call soon, I may kill him when I see him! Haha, jk! He's never been one to write letters!
