Okay so I am looking for hotels and the prices are high per night, cost is not an issue because I will attend the graduation, BUT I was just wonder is there certain options I should be looking at.

Ive done so far:

Rental House, Search in libertyville, Gurnee , Waukegan , and on base in the lodge.

So what I wanted to do was get the lodge since they are cheaper per night and I'm staying for like 4 nights. The thing is I was reading about if my recruit is staying for A school there then they might not be able to stay there during PIR so I am confused about that.

Please give me some advice, thanks guys! :)

Go to Military-Hotels.us navigate Lake Bluff, IL then Navy Great prices even lower than if you call them.

It depends where he or she is going to A school is it in Great Lakes?

We were just there 2 weekends ago visiting my son who is is A school.  We have been several times since he graduated last fall and have stayed at Navy Lodge (PIR weekend-it was a great atmosphere), Ramada (don't stay there...yuck!!) and Springhill Suites (very nice but kind of pricey) We just now found the hotel we like best and I would highly recommend.  LaQuinta Inn and Suites North Chicago (Bannockburn).  It is 15 minutes from base so it wasn't a bad commute at all.  The beds were great!  It is a really big room with a sitting area and an area that has a refrigerator and microwave.  There was also breakfast included (continental with waffles) The military rate or "Great Lakes Friends and Family" rate was around $70/night.  It was a great deal!

Hi...Just wondering why you say "yuck" to the Ramada? We were there

Check your My Page.

The Ramada Inn has gotten A LOT of mixed reviews.

I am just curious...

did anyone stay at Sheraton hotel in Schiller Park? if did, how was the hotel there?

Thank you for your heads up... :)

My yuck was based on the smell, the really dirty and damp carpeting, broken TV, a large group of people openly smoking pot in the back parking lot. I will say the beds were comfortable but we did not feel at all safe. That was our experience and hopefully you had a better one.

If recruits are staying in GL for A-School, are they allowed to stay overnight at the hotel over the weekend or will they be required to return to base by a certain time each evening?

Nevermind, found it in another thread. Liberty ends at 10pm. Womp womp :-\

Yes, and be sure that he is back well before that 2200 muster. On time in the Navy is late, so your Sailor needs to be dropped off around 9:30 pm.

Thanks lemonelephant and sailormaid--- good to know!! Womp womp is right :-( If in A school in Great Lakes do they have liberty on Monday because of holiday? Thanks!

Yes, those with PIR on 05/22/2105 and staying in GL will have Liberty on Monday due to the Memorial Day holiday. See PIR Day and Liberty during PIR Weekend.
