Today was the day, and he left around 11:30 this morning.  I am bursting with pride for him, and very proud of the young man he has become.  But, man, am I sad for myself.  It was so very hard giving him that final hug and turning him loose.  For 20 years he has slept under my roof.  All I can think about is how fast those 20 years went by, and that although he is ready, I was not.  I know it will get better for me...I just hope it's soon.  He got teary-eyed when he hugged me good-bye, and that just tore me up inside.  He may be all grown up, but when I look at him I still see my little boy.

Thank you for listening.

Good morning to you, too!  Thanks for all the info!  The first link didn't work, but the second one was good!

I hope you had a good night as well.  My sleeping has been really off since my son left...I fall asleep fine (after I quiet all my worries down lol), but I have been waking up around 4am to 4:30am pretty much every morning since he left.  Maybe I'm waking up in sympathy with him lol!  I just go ahead and start my day; trying to go back to sleep is useless.

I'm think I'm going to go ahead and book at the Navy Lodge.  See...I go and need to look at everything...but then come right back to my original plan.  And that's why my husband hates shopping with me....lolol!  And we are driving up from Alabama...I love a good road trip!

Yay!!!   We can meet up there then!!   Thinking about going to the "Meet & Greet" at the Sundance Saloon on Thursday Night, sounds like it might be pretty good and there's free food!!   Look under "Events" on this site and you'll see it!!  Been waking up around 3:30am myself, I'm lazy, I lay there till I do get sleepy again but by that time it's time to get up!!!  :)   So wish we could drive it too but I had to take so much time with my mother that I don't have the extra time it would take!   I love road trips but my boyfriend hates driving!!!

MY SON'S LETTER CAME IN THE MAIL!!!!!!!  Yes, graduation is August 14, 2015.  His division is 269; don't know if I can put ship number on here.  Oh I'm a happy momma right now!!!!!!!  I read it so quickly, just catching PIR date and address...now that I'm calmer I will read all of it, lol.

Yep, I saw the meet and greet at the Sundance Saloon, and my husband likes the idea of that as well, so we will probably go to that.  Sounds fun!  And I like 'free' lol!

I hope your sons' letter comes today as well...it's just so awesome to finally receive it!  Let me know! ~~Linda

Thank you for your encouragement. I'm feeling better after i received his form letter. I also found a navy mom at work and she is encouraging me. and last night i met a co worker who is a navy reserve and she went through the boot camp. she assured me that they are all taken care off at the boot camp, the food is really good though during the first weeks they dont have enough sleep.

I'm sorry for your loss. I know that was hard. I lost my grandma in 1996 who raised me since i was 6 months old. it really breaks my heart but I know they are in a better place.

Thank you for concern. I can't wait for 08/14. hope to see you and Linda at the meet and greet.

I am so glad you are feeling better!  It's just something that we have to take one day at a time.  I felt better too, after I received the form letter.  Just being able to mail him my letters helped.  And I am so glad you met a navy mom!  I know that had to help.

I will be at the meet and greet, and I can't wait to meet you, and everyone else from here!

My daughter left from Boston on 6/15/15 also. Her dad got her box and 4 page form letter. My daughter told me if you ask, they may give more tickets for graduation. I already booked hotel for 8/14/15 graduation.

1)   There are no tickets for graduation, only the names placed on an access list by your Recruit.

2)   Four guests for graduation is the limit. On weeks with really big graduating classes, the limit can be three. No amount of asking will get you more. Sorry.  See the "Important Message" on the RTC home page, http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil

The RTC Family Guide explains it all.

My son also left on 6/15/15, we have received the box but not the letter yet advising of PIR.  I had calculated the 8/14 date myself but would like a definite confirmation on that so thanks for that!   What hotel did you book at, if you don't mind me asking.  I've been looking at several and using the chart on the MWR but haven't booked yet.  May go ahead and do reservations today!   Hope your daughter is doing well and pray she makes it through!   I'm very proud of my son and all of them!!!  :)

I made reservations at the Hilton Gardens Inn Lake Forest Mettawa   847-735-8374.  Have you heard from your son yet?  My daughter called about two weeks ago on a Friday night.  Did you hear from your son?  She also sent a letter that I received on Thursday 7/9/15 in the mail.   The post mark was 7/6/15.

She is ship 02 div 940. Does anyone have a future sailor in this division?

Cindy65,

Yes, my daughter is also in the 940 div.

I totally understand! My son just left today too but he doesn't report until July 5th, but I won't see him until graduation. I am proud too and also sad. This season of my life is over since he is my youngest. This is what we raise them for - to go do what they choose to do and be men and women. Congrats on your son! Lynda
