I am bursting at the seems with pride for Joseph; yet my heart breaks for me. I never knew my heart could feel so many emotions all at one time.  I can't wait to see the man he becomes!!!

My son is a good person, strong and stubborn at times. I can't stop from worrying so much. Two weeks had passed, that letter hasn't come, maybe because of the holiday plus we live in the Hawaiian islands, it takes more longer to reach us. Thank you heidi86 for your comforting words and reassurances, well appreciated. My boy is growing up now. God will continue to guide these young men to become responsible people in the future. I wish all the parents would encourage their children to do the same, it's a blessing.

meg, I laft info for you on your My Page.

Yay and yeehaw! We FINALLY received the letter today with my son's ship address! Soooooo excited! Family sending first batch of letters tomorrow! Graduation day is 8-21! I am counting down the days! I was reading something about phone cards? We did NOT send this with my son! Does he need this for a phone call that they may get to make? Should I mail one ? I would be devastated to think he wanted to call but needed a card. Any help on this is appreciated. Thanks!

He can buy a phone card at the NEX. Send one if your want (along with stamps and stationary, also available at the NEX). Or don't.

"We did NOT send this with my son!"  No, your son did not feel it important to buy a phone card before leaving. He's the one making the decision. You are going to be seeing a lot more of this behavior in the future.

Kate, I left info for you on your My Page.

Counting Fridays may be easier on you than counting the days. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC.

Yes, he needs a phone card to make calls, but he will be able to purchase one at the NEX. Don't worry he will call. Yes, you can mail him one. See Phone Cards and Phone Calls.

Yes, your son needs a phone card. I got mine from Walmart, they will activate it for you, get the refillable one and take a picture of it, easier to refill if he ran out of minutes. Insert it in one of your letters to him. If God permits my son will also graduate 8-21.

I received a scripted letter from my son giving us graduation info. and his address to write.  But still no phone call like his recruiter told us we would receive .  How about you???

PAMELA, The RDC schedules phone calls not the recruiter. Don't expect a call, but have your phone available at all times and be pleasantly surprised if you receive a call. See Phone Cards and Phone Calls.

Check your My Page.

My son's group were punished recently due to the mistakes made by few. Team work is very important to win this game. He felt bad but he won't give up helping to rebuild what they started. He felt also sorry knowing not all of them can graduate at the same time. He shared what he got from me like phone cards, stamps, even band- aids. They barely have time for themselves, going to store to get what the need will mean sacrificing a sleep or rest. One more month to go,it's like climbing a mountain the whole time. Let's keep letters flying to feel our support. He said " boot camp is easy only the recruits make it harder". Let's pray for the best for our recruits.
